I think that people are reading more into my post than is there....The rule of thumb that I learned was.....pull the power, Level the bottom of the wings to the horizon, hold whatever pitch it takes to keep the wings level to the horizon, allow the aircraft to settle down, the speed that is indicate...

wings level + No power = best glide, VSI should show least sink.....

George is right (as usual) but before I would put a number on best glide (since every aircraft is different, after 50 years of people tweaking them) take your aircraft up and level the wings -pull the power- and watch the airspeed indicator....this will give you best glide, at the weight at the time...

Isn't that the truth!!!!!.....yet out here in podunk America, the walmart parking lots are full.....Go figure......

I couldn't remember if the seats I had were full seats or just frames......after going out to the container, I found them frames.....sorry to get your hopes up..... these were 1959 175 seats, but would have worked.......if your mechanic would allow........ BTW in your orginal post you aske...
