Re: Electrical Glitch

When you perform voltage drop tests, you need to load the circuit. What I do is hook my DVOM across the suspected circuit - in this case the Master Switch. Positive lead on one side and negative lead on the other side. Engage the starter as this is when you experienced the issue. The DVOM will show ...

Visiting in Anchorage

Happy New Year fellow 170'ers. Been a while since I posted, but still up and flying 58D - though not as much as I wish. I've been busy with 2 full time careers which does not leave me a lot of free time. But I did get my skis on this year and been hitting some lakes. One of my jobs is taking me to A...

Re: What to do in Fairbanks

What a short trip to Fairbanks but really enjoyed the area. Didn't get any time for sight seeing but found a decent bar (The Banks) that served good food and friendly staff. I need to get back and visit sometime....maybe in the summer. First time I ever rented a car and they hand me an extension cor...

Thanks Tim. Sounds like fun. I am arriving into Fairbanks around 8:00 am and will try to catch some sleep as it will have been a long travel day. My number is 7154995123 of you want to text me on the afternoon. If this works great. If not no sweat. Paul UPDATE Well, like they say - got time to spare...

Re: What to do in Fairbanks

Thanks for all the great suggestions. Been busy so I didn't get time to respond to my post. I am hoping my flights go as planned. So I am thinking that if anyone in Fairbanks wanted to meet for lunch on Tuesday just to visit and talk airplanes I would be up for that. Working all day Wednesday and Th...

What to do in Fairbanks

So I am flying to Fairbanks December 6th for work and I have a down day. Working all day on the 7th and 8th and flyng back on the 9th. Looking for ideas what I can do to experience Fairbanks. Re: Safety Stands

I suppose you could install a tire pressure monitor and have it send a signal to your cell phone when the tire pressure drops below a predetermined pressure. Or maybe have a tire pressure minder (like a battery minder) that keeps that tires at a steady pressure). Just kidding. Sounds like you are do...

Keeping the Ball Centered

Been a while since I posted but thought I would share an experience I had at my last annual. We removed the rudder as we needed to correct some play in the lower pivot bolt. Anyway, as we where installing the rudder I mentioned to my A&P that someday I will have to mess with the trim tab on the ...

Re: Winter Fun

I never got my skis mounted this year. We had bad ice and no snow until a few weeks ago and now that spring is so close it doesn't pay. Nice skis. I wish I had hydraulic skis but an "stuck" with wheel penetration skis. And stuck is what I get sometimes!

Looks like the tips on my 170B - Metcoaire. Are they fiberglass? (mine are). Also have paperwork (limited) on these.

Re: How long can a 170 sit and still be flyable?

When I bought 58D it had flown 9 hours in the previous 10 years with the past 3 years before I bought not being flown at all. 300 hours later and still flying great. I agree that it really depends on too many variables to determine if this is a good or bad thing in your situation. I think personally...

Re: 8.50 tires

I am running 8.50s on mine with Cleveland brakes and did not need any spacers. Clearance is close but 4 years later there are no signs of rubbing on the tires.
