Had mine repitched to 7647. It comes out of the water nicely on edo 2000s, but gives about 80 mph cruise at 2500 rpm. I think it's a little too fine and will probably repitch to 49.

I considered the 80 inch prop but can't justify the expense for this year. It'll have to wait.

Seaplane propeller

Hi everyone, I had Edo 2000s installed and my prop re-pitched to a 7647. Does anyone have any experience with this setting? I'm hoping to be able to carry two adults, full fuel and 100 lbs in the back. That pretty much puts me at 2106 lbs. I have no stol kit and a C-145 so pretty much a stock 170B. ...

Seaplane dolly

I just finished my first float season with the 170 and it is now stored for the winter. I had been keeping it tied to a dock but the floats got pretty dirty so i've been looking for ideas on how to make a dolly to pull it out of the water when not in use. I have however been unable to find any pictu...

Oil dipstick...and floats

Hi everyone, I remember reading on here about 172 dipsticks in 170s or vice versa and the markings not being accurate when they are swapped due to the airplanes attitude when parked. I just put my 170 on Edo 2000s and it dawned on me that the dipstick readings may not be accurate as the aircraft app...

Custom interior

Hello all, I would like to refurbish my interior but first was wondering if I can use any leather or does it need to come from one of those super aviation grade cows? Also, I would like to make my own headliner. Is this legal? And finally the carpeting. Anything special I need to know? Thanks in adv...

Thanks for the reply. My AME just called with more bad news. It appears my rudder cable is in pretty rough shape. Might as well change it while I got the tail off.

Cracks in tail

Hello, Just had my first annual done since I bought this aircraft (1953 170B) and the AME found some cracks in the tail structure at the top rivets of the braces that hold the elevator bell crank. Has anyone else had issues with cracks in the tail. I think it may come from locking the controls with ...
