Re: Some STC legal questions.....and a project plane
The only place I personally know of to get good information and parts for the 180 hp conversions is: I have the older "Bush" conversion. Both the Bush and the Avcon people seem to have fallen of the earth! Harry Delicker at: Delair 2099 Wildcat Way Porterville, Calif. 95132-1203 559-784-94...

Re: Flap Gap Seals
I have the results from of a bit of empirical testing with flap gap seals. When I first bought my 53-B in McCall Idaho it came with some "extra" uninstalled parts. The fuselage had been rebuilt from the rear door post forward with ALL new parts. The Horton leading edge cuff, stall fences, ...

Lopez
You might list the required prop so I could see if the one I have would be useful.
I sure do not know, but the just might be the same prop for both STCs. ?!?
Just a thought

Re: 76" prop on a 180HP
Lopez I just happen to have a spare prop that came off of a c-170 with 180hp conversion. Mine was / is a Bush conversion, but believe that they are the same if not extremely similar. George I apologies up front if the above is not real accurate, but you have to have spent a whole day with Harry to u...

Re: Pitot Tube Bug Flap
I may have several of them over at RHV if you can get over. Let me know the Inside and Outside diameters. Need an excuse to get out of the house. PM me for a phone # or look up in 170 directory. Brent, at AIRBOLT in Fresno will OFTEN sell you one of almost anything. 559-264-8900 He still shows up on...

That's the problem George, we push on the rudder, and get no movement at all.

Re: transporting a 170
Last, and only time, I ever needed to 'haul' an airplane on the road, we just simply installed a modified - jury-rigged - extension into the tail wheel slot, welded on a trailer hitch, and towed it like a two wheeled trailer. That was for my first airplane - an old Champ - that I rebuilt in the driv...

Per e-mail I got back from Wing-X yesterday 11-17-08
The Wing-X extension for the 170-B
is only good in Canada at this time.

Re: gross weight increase for 170
During one of my visits to 'listen' to Harry Delicker, I happened to make the mistake of asking if he had ever tried to get an STC for a weight increase in the 170s. The conclusion, after some hours of frustration induced rantings from Harry, I learned, was that the FAA would not authorize a weight ...

Re: Cessna 150 starter question...please help!
A local FBO, that runs mostly Citabrias, has / had a similar problem of the new lightweight starters spinning too fast.
Their simple fix was fire up the starter, count to three, turn off the starter, back to both.
The engine usually started as the prop slowed down.

Tail Wheel steering and other hopes
While in McCall Idaho recently I had reason to replace my Tailwheel springs. While we were at it the mechanic showed me how to get some semblance of steering of my new 3200 mechanism while it is still in contact with the ground. I have always had to use a fair bit of brake to get my 170 to wander ov...

Re: Fuel Caps7
I asked my mechanic about fuel lube once and he just looked at me like I was stupid. I rememberd about the stuff from a previous shop. Yeah, he knew what the stuff was, but could not see the cost of it. OK then, what do ya use? He pulled out a small plastic tube of Vasline Lip Care. I now have an ex...

Re: Larger Tires for a 170B?
Once again, I am largely in agreement with BlueLdr and Jr. Cubbuilder. I spent some time researching how to get larger tires on mhy 170-B. First tried for the 850s, which a lot of people use, but could NOT find a legal way to do so. I wanted to stay as legal as possible primarily for the impact of t...
