Magnets
Those Magnets keep coming back around. Im in the boiler buisness and Magnets are sometimes used on the piping for the feed water to the boiler. No need for chemicals. Well, a few months later the boiler needs rebuilding or re-placing. A set of magnets was quoted for me by the distributor for $7000. ...

Need new airspeed gauge
Hey guys, I need some help on this one. My stock airspeed gauge really did die. Had to tap on the glass to make sure it read right, as soon as you tapped on the glass it would change from 70 to 55 ect. I sent it to one shop in Seattle, then another in the midwest, both said its gone. I like the fron...

170s
Hi Jim and Joe I do know Karl in Duval. Very nice guy and has a good 170B. He put on a SeaPlane Prop. and it made a big difference in take off performance. He also needs a good crank for a rebuild. I bought my 170B from Loydd Koher who kept N8076A in Renton. He is a great guy and I promised to just ...

shaking
The 0360 is a great mod for the 170s. It becomes a real 4 place airplane under most conditions. Its smooth but its loud compaired to the stock engine. Just wear noise canceling head phones and its very quite. As far a shaking, this is what I have noticed. It does not matter if its in a SuperCub or a...

Cleaning Windows
A friend told me how to clean plexiglass window front and sides. When your back and see all the bugs on the windshield. Get a bucket of water and buy those cheap round soft wax applicators from your local Auto supply store. They are soft and work great. Now wet the round soft applictors in the water...

Stall Buzzer
The Buzzer and the Micro switch are priced so high, I still can't believe it. I do know that a Cheap back up alarm from Radio shack works great and fits right in.

180 conversion
I sold a 170B with the six cylinder engine (stock motor) 145 in it. Then bought a 170B also a 1952 with the Avcon 180 h.p engine and Hartzel constant speed prop for about $2,500. more than what I sold my other plane for. The noise was without a doubt louder. The vibration was the same, very smooth. ...

Battery
I just put one in my 170 and I have to say it was strange. The battery was charged with a trickel charger for 24 hours before installing. I put it in the plane and it was dead the next day. I recharged the battery on the work bench that has a wood top. two days later it was dead again. I called the ...

Prop Inspection
I called Hartzell as well about this same conversion and prop that I have on my plane. They told me they had a couple come apart so they put a A.D out on it. All the prices were the same as you guys heard, but a 100 hour inspection is now required from the prop shop. The cost is $150. and they dont ...

Polish
I like to shine things up and have tried about everything out there. This is what I found to be the fastest and best polish yet. The swift airplane group uses the Dual Head Cyclo polisher. Its availabe for $212.00 if you shop on the net for it and thats new and will last a couple life times. Then us...

180 in a 170
My first 170 I flew home to Washington State from Missouri. It had the stock engine and very low time on it. The plane was a 1952 B model. It was pretty quiet, and smooth with two people and no luggage. It flew fine but struggled to clear the passes and some of the higher peaks. Its a great plane. T...
