Re: IPC pg 94 , 95 Manifold Heater
I still think it odd that the fresh air cable is pushed in for "on" and pulled out for "off"....... I was pulling mine trying to turn on fresh air until I figured out why it wasn't working the way I thought it should. ('53 B model) Also.. check your mufflers!!! I recently nearly ...

Re: Cessna 170B fun decals
Thanks for checking Arash.
Thanks Ryan... I was just hoping that someone had some. But, yes, it was the scale version that I liked and had before. Don't go to a bunch of trouble unless there is some demand for them.

Re: Cessna 170B fun decals
Hi Arash.... I'm resurrecting this old thread.... I'm in need of a couple more stickers. Are there any left after all these years? Time for another production run? Gave my last one to my barber shop where it is proudly displayed for all the customers to see while they are getting their ears lowered....

Re: Lady legs basis for approval?
aren't 170b gear the same as Lady legs? Well... sorta.. I have the early 1953 170B gear (soft and squishy, interchangeable between left and right)... "lady legs" started in mid-53 and are stiffer and are not interchangeable side to side. I have one friend who says don't change them as the...

Re: Lady legs basis for approval?
Thanks Bruce. I have purchased a pair... hope to have them in hand in a few days.... and I just wanted to have some knowledge before I wander into the mechanic's shop with them under my arm. My preferred mechanic is too busy to install them right now and my local guy has never replaced a set of Cess...

Lady legs basis for approval?
What is the basis of approval for replacing early 170B landing gear legs with later model "lady legs"? Since they are both Cessna parts designed for the 170, is it a simple logbook entry? Or is it more complicated than that?

Re: 2836C's Last Flight
So sorry to hear this Justin. Those storms were scary when they passed through TN. I don't think the insurance adjuster will have to spend much time looking at this one. Good luck......

Re: New 170 owner
HI Todd ! I'm not too far away.... I've moved to Murfreesboro, TN but I still keep a hangar at Thomaston (KOPN). I have family in the area so am down that way fairly often. We've had some 170 fly in lunches at Peachstate although I've missed the last couple of them. May be time for another one. I'll...

Re: Parts for 53C
I bought the rudder return springs from Aero Twin at Merril Field in Anchorage, AK about three years ago. I don't recall what I paid but I don't remember being shocked by the price either. One was more expensive than the other if I remember right. Might check with them.....

Hi Michael! Glad to see you found what you are looking for.
When will you migrate to Talkeetna? Good chance I'll be in the area around the end of May for a few days.
Happy Flying! Keith

Re: BasicMed / Medical reform is here!
I agree. The details, or what little I know of them, don't give me the feeling that this is going to be any better than what we had. It could be so simple......mit wrote:This does not appear to be what most of the pilots I know wanted.

Re: How Many GA Hours in 2016?
56.3 hours in the 170 this year. Less than I had been flying it the last few years. Limited mostly by difficulty getting time off work. I'm optimistic about more 170 flying in 2017!

Re: ADS B
I just got a quote of $4600 + (after the $500 FAA rebate) for a new Stratus transponder, encoder, ADS-B in unit, and installation. ouch.
