Re: Exhaust/intake tube chafing
I had that issue and the mechanic ground out a little "half-moon" in the edge of the clamps to give adequate clearance.

Re: credit card fraud protection vs AvGas pumps
I regularly use an America Express card with no problems. As an airline guy, I travel cross county every day so I guess they have figured that out. I can buy breakfast in LA, lunch in New York, and dinner in Chicago and somehow it knows it's me. I have tried to notify them of travel that isn't in my...

Re: WASPS
I have had good luck in a metal hangar with those "bug bomb" foggers. I wait until I'm taking the plane out for a few days, set off the fogger, and leave. Spiders seem to be the hardest to kill. No carpenter bees in the metal hangar, of course, but I have seen good success with the carpent...

Re: WASPS
Thanks Frank!!
I found out I'm number 22 on the wait list for a hangar. At this rate I'll still be fighting the wasps this time next year.

Re: Wasps!
Hi Frank... yes, feel free to drive by and see if the wasps are back. They've been around the right fuel drain. I tapped around it pretty vigorously today and no more came out so maybe I got them all. I thought about wasp spray but, not knowing what's in it, I was hesitant to spray it on the plane. ...

Re: Wasps!
Well the dang things are back. This morning I found a wasp on my fuel drain again. After I spilled 100LL on him, two of his buddies came flying out from around the fuel drain, having been camped out in my wing. I'm wondering if WD-40 fogged into the wing would work as an insect inhibitor. I then saw...

Re: Wasps!
If your battery is really seven years old, it is just waiting for the worst possible place in the world to completely fail. I like a little sense of adventure, Dick. :D Actually, I have no plans to go anywhere other than the home field in the near future so I'm planning to replace the battery at th...

Re: Wasps!
Hi Richard... I don't have a borescope but do have a mirror and flashlight. I'll pull the inspection covers and look inside. Regarding the wasps... I have also had them under the access door to the gas cap on my car. Are they attracted to gas fumes? Yes, Frank, we got it charged. Thanks for the reco...

Wasps!
In an effort to beat the heat, I made an early morning pre-flight this morning and nearly stuck my hand into this mess while sumping my fuel tanks. IMG_0369-1.jpg I got so excited that my hand jerked and the contents of my fuel cup splashed on these little buggers, which put them in a deep sleep. :D...

Re: Portable Tie Downs
Hi Richard!
Can you explain one more step? On that last pic where you say "tie off the loose end", where are you tying to? The standing part of the rope above the loop? Or back up to the tie down ring?
Hope you are doing well. I sent you an email....
Keith

Re: Flew my first cross country today
When will you fly back? Keith Keith, I plan to head back Saturday, weather permitting. I'll be working again this Saturday... If you stop at Thomaston again you can bet the jumpers will be active on the weekend. Just fly a normal pattern even if you have to go all the way around the airport and don...

Re: Flew my first cross country today
Wish I had been there to greet you in Thomaston but I was working. Yes, those parachutes are cool to watch and as far as I can tell the rule is that you just fly a normal pattern and they come down in the center. I NEVER fly across mid field there because of them. They jump pretty much every weekend...

Re: Why I fly
The wrist bands helped me a lot with sea sickness. I'm not bothered much in the air unless it is hot and bumpy at the same time.... but put me on a boat and I get sick almost immediately. With the wrist bands I still didn't feel great but it was certainly better.

$6.62 at Aircraft Spruce... but I have the advantage of driving by their store occasionally so I pick it up when I'm there.
