Re: Heater Control Friction
If this is a Boden wire control, a slight kink in the housing and wire will put some friction on it to keep it from creeping.

Re: installing Cessna 175 tanks in my Cessna 170b
The simplest way is to install a set of C-175 wings on a pre-approved 337.

If your battery is really seven years old, it is just waiting for the worst possible place in the world to completely fail.

Re: Weight distribution
What is the result of the preliminary calculation using your present weight and balance data? I would suggest a new weighing if the present data is old.

Re: What do I buy
The maintainence on a C-!70 is waaayyyy easier than on a C-172 simply because there is no hydraulic strut on the tail wheel.

Re: Skytec Starter Upgrade
The TCM IO-360 engine that I installed in my '52 C-170B came off the front of a Cessna C-337 and was equipped with a 24v starter and alternator (or generator). Since I was going to maintain the 12v system of my C-170, I decided to install a light weight, 12v, Sky Tec starter. On the first engine shu...

Re: Brake caliper location question
In regard to the removal of the parking brake hardware, is this an approved modification?
Does it require a "Notifying Decal" of some sort in the cockpit in addition to a log book entry?

Re: Continental IO-360AF -- money talks
In reading an above item this thread, I note a question of my installing a "D" model TCM IO-360 engine in my '52 C-170B on Tom Anderson's STC.
I questioned Tom about that at the time that I picked up the engine mount, and he allowed as how that would be OK.

Re: Skytec Starter Upgrade
Why didn't you simply install a new oil seal in your old starter? They only cost a couple of bucks and you don't have to grind off the part in the engine risking metal contamination in the guts of the engine.

Re: Vacuum Relief Valve Adjustment
My '52 model had two 4 inch venturis and seemed to do just fine. I never did think that the C-170 made a good airplane for flying "Hard" IFR. It just didn't seem to be enough airplane. That was, perhaps, a result of having flown mostly large airplanes such a transports and bombers that wer...

Re: Is this normal?
Perhaps you may not have the proper primer fitting in the botton if the intake manifold. If someone has inadvertantly installed a standard flare fitting. the primer pump will pump way to much fuel in on each stroke.

Re: Paint Shops in the Northwest?
I've seen some outstanding paint jobs that came out of the shop in Red Bluff, CA. I don't know about their prices or whether they're still there. A lot of paint shops moved out of California because of the environmental regulations.

Re: Prop RPM Avoid Range Operation
In view of the above comment, as I remember there seems to be VERY FEW C-170 aircraft thast are likely to pull over thirty inches of manifold pressure except maybe in parts of Death Valley, or the Salton Sea, in CA.
