Re: Early Spring in Michigan
Sorry, that was a vain attempt at humor. Being from the Deep Southern U.S., I am occasionally looked upon as being from a foreign country when visiting the northern and western parts of our country. (I don't actually have to show my passport.) Some of my euphemisms, and my accent, result in the same...

Exactly George!
For some reason they make me show a passport when I cross the Ohio State line.

Hi Miles,
I stopped by the Brighton airport today (was passing through the area for work), it looks like a fun place to live and fly!

Re: Tach drive oil seal, C145-2
I have an old spare housing that had a seal in it like the one you described. I have been chasing an oil leak for a while and I think I finally found it, just waiting for another new seal to come in so I can put it all back together. The problem, I think, is that the housing was warped such that the...

Re: Tach drive oil seal, C145-2
Thanks Bruce, that's the way the old one was but it just didn't look right for some reason. A lot of things just don't look right to me any more.

Tach drive oil seal, C145-2
I need some advice as the drawing in the IPC isn't very clear: I need to know which way the seal should be installed in the housing; with the open side toward the engine, or the solid side toward the engine? The one I'm replacing was with the open side toward the engine but that just doesn't look ri...

Re: Landing/Taxi light switch
I have successfully cleaned some of my switches with CRC Lectra-Motive Electric Parts Cleaner. I think I bought it at NAPA. It hasn't failed me yet. Some switches are easier than others to get the spray inside the switch, but usually I am able to do it.

Hi, and Thanks!
I was wondering if the diner was still open at Cullman, we'll have to try that out soon! Hope to make it to the breakfast at Moontown soon if weather and my schedule will cooperate.

Re: Compass Fluid?
Mine looks sort of like somebody put swamp water in it.
Hopefully I can clean it up though.

Re: Compass Fluid?
That "filtered mineral spirits" might be the problem. It might be with mine as well, though I have seen no log entry about it. Soon I will order a fluid/seal kit and hope that it lightens up a bit.

Re: Compass Fluid?
Thanks! I'd be interested in hearing how that turns out. If I do reseal and refill the original I will definitely order the correct fluid, I'm not smart enough to out-think the instrument manufacturer.

Re: Compass Fluid?
Mine is very dark and almost unreadable in low light situations. I've been wondering if it's the fluid that has turned dark, or the painted numbers that have darkened or both. I have been delaying opening it up to see, but have not been ready yet to open up a potential can of worms. I need to do som...
