Re: APRIL 6, 2008 Cessna 170B

I wondered how long it would be before my follies showed up on the forums… I wasn’t in a hurry to post it, I still get sick thinking about it. But, maybe someone will learn something from my mistakes. First, the synopsis the NTSB published has a few errors. The airplane didn’t turn hard right ...

Re: Tailwheel transition time to a 170

This is a great topic for a newby like me. I hope to put much of this to good use when I pick up my 170 on Saturday  I have a question on the wheel landings... In the Citabria as soon as the tail starts to feel soft I pull back on the stick to firmly plant the tailwheel. At that point the C...

Re: 460MHZ ELT

I have been reading up on the 406 MHz ELT's. Artex makes 406 MHz ELT's that can be easily reprogrammed with the aircraft's 24-Bit address so that it can be moved from AC to AC. I'm sure other manufactures have models with this feature. Since this is an option that they offer, I'm sure they can provi...

Re: Tailwheel transition time to a 170

I've got about 90 hours of tailwheel time in a Decathlon. I was wondering what everyone thought about how my experience may transfer to a 170A or B model. I've ridden in a 180HP 170B, but haven't had a chance to fly one. In my Decathlon, I feel relatively comfortable in most conditions, but I know ...

Re: Looking for a C170 CFI in KC area

Thanks for the reply Birdog. I have arranged for an instructor already but it's always good to have a backup plan if necessary. Something that I noticed on the Maule owners site was a sticky post with a list of CFI's that did instruction in Maules. I suspect that it's alot easier to find a C170 qual...

Re: Altitude to turn back to the airport

Barry Schiff - Proficient Flying - http://www.ipilot.com/shop/product.aspx?pid=16960 I have this DVD set and he covers the 180 return to the field maneuver. It is an advanced maneuver and depends on many factors. I have done the practice maneuvers he recommends in a 172, 182 and Citabria and came to...

Looking for a C170 CFI in KC area

Hello,

I have recently purchased a 52' 170B in the Kansas City area and need a CFI checkout/sign-off to satisfy the insurance company. Does anybody know of one in the KC MO area? A CFI with access to a 170 in the Northern Colorado area would work too.

Thanks,

-Scott
