Re: Model baggage compartment weight limit differences
Well George you've made that clear as mud. The TCDS isn't specific as to what might be the latest version of the applicable AFM and I didn't expect it to.... I tried to make it clear. Let me try again: The TCDS tells you which AFM must accompany your airplane. The producer of the AFM (Cessna) tells...

Re: Model baggage compartment weight limit differences
The 170A Flight manual you quoted has a REV. A ( DEC 3, 1948) that states 120 lbs. You posted a 170 AFM, and a 170 rev A AFM. I would think only the rev A carries any authority. The TCDS A-799 says 120 lbs. for all three 170 models. Ron do you have a copy of that 170A AFM you could send for my coll...

Where did you find the 100 lbs. figure?
The only ones I can find say 120 lbs.
TCDS A-799

Re: Lubing Control Yoke Tubes
Assuming an inspection reveals nothing wrong with the parts involved... The 170A owner's manual recommends lubricating the universal (if unsealed) and control column ball with general purpose light machine oil. I sprayed some silicone on a rag and wiped down the tubes. It has lasted a long time, and...

Sorry to sound so naive.

Re: Actual Altitude
In my experience, mostly with a Garmin 296, the vertical solution seems to be slightly better than the horizontal solution, at least around Tehachapi. Landing on the centerline of runway 29 leaves a track as though I had landed on the taxiway about a hundred feet to the south. I don't recall ever s...

Re: Actual Altitude
It has been my experience most of the error I see in handheld GPS is altitude. I have done lots of hiking with GPS and topo maps. GPS location is very close. Altitude constantly varies up and down quite a bit. I have a hand held barometer/altimeter that is quite accurate for locating myself on a top...

Re: Voltage regulator identification
The description I posted is for 1119168 http://www.motorcityreman.com/deoe1111d61.html
which crosses from 1119253. I was just saying it is not a description of 1119253.
Delco-Remy has the blue prints for both regulators, but no rating data.

Re: Voltage regulator identification
On the Delco-Remy site, it shows 1119253 is replaced by 1119168, which is Regulator,
12 Volt/32-36 Amp, Dual Polarity, 14.1 Vset, Three-Unit Type, A-Circuit, 3-Terminal
This doesn't exactly describe what you have, but it may give you an idea of the amp rating.

Re: FCC Bans 121.5 ELTs
Doubtless, it is merely an unfortunate choice of wording in the new FCC policy. I am sure that there is no FCC intent to re-allocate 121.5 for any other purpose than emergency purposes and aviation emergency/guard use. The intent of the new policy is to prevent/discourage the new mfr, certification...

Re: Higher Oil Temp with spin on Oil Filter Adapter?
Awesome - thank you so much for the drawing and picture. Have to get back with my A&P for the STC paperwork, don't remember reading anything about repositioning the tubes. Still a litte unclear about the wisdom of cooling the probe to cure the indication versus the actual oil. The blast tubes c...

Re: Installing Rudder return spring
On my brother's 170A, the springs are as follows: The spring in the left side of the tunnel is like "A", EXCEPT, the long aft hook points left, outboard, toward the pilot's foot well. The spring on the right side of the tunnel, both hooks point inboard, toward the center of the tunnel, wit...
