Re: '48 Metalized Wing Owners/Operators
OK, So I found a guy who wanted to sell his airplane really bad and the final price offered reflected his desire. So I purchased a metalized 1948 C-170 and I have 25 + hours in it. I think it flys just as good (and better rigged) than my C120. It only added 24 pounds to the total weight. So if anyon...

Re: '48 Metalized Wing Owners/Operators
Gentlemen,
thanks for your responses and time. I spoke with a few of you on the phone. Thanks and I have decided to stick with the fabric if I get a '48 C-170 based on more people making comments about little things that were not to their liking.
Thanks Again.

'48 Metalized Wing Owners/Operators
Gentleman, I have read the posts about the metalized wings, but I can't find anyone listing specific pros/cons (other than originallity or future repairs) If you own or have flown a metalized 170 (or maybe even the 120/140 clan) please give me a call. I would like to hear some first hand accounts. I...

1A175 DM 8042 on a '48 C-170 ?
I read the posts about how great these props are with the Kenmore STC, but can you get the STC for this prop for a ragwing C-170?
If so do you need C-180 gear legs or can you do it with 8.00X6 or 8.50X6 tires while using the stock gear legs?
Thanks

Value of Grimes drop down landing light?
If a fellow was to sell or buy a Grimes landing light that is in working order what would be a dollar value for that particular item.
I am sure someone can tell me what they have bought or sold one for recently.
thanks as bunch

Re: 49' 170 Retractable landing light
I have a retractable landing light off of a 1948. I have pulled the cover off and everything looks good but i don't know how to check if it is good or not.
Give me a call and maybe I can assist you.

Bolt Kit for a 170
My mechanic said he bought a bolt kit for his old straight tail 182 when he went through it. I look in aircraft spruce but was unable to find one for the 170. Does anyone know if you can get one (I have a 1948) for a 170 or is there one for perhaps a 172 that would give you 95% of what you would nee...

here's a dumb question. what would you use for the engine mount, i.e. the guy who has the flat tire one?

Re: curiouse about an 0-320
just wondering. i just recently overhauled my C-145-2 so no there will be no engine upgrades or changes for at least as long as i own the airplane. Mainly i was just wanting to hear someone brag about their bird if they did have this conversion.
thanks again

curiouse about an 0-320
i am not interested in putting one on because of a recent overhaul, but i see an STC for a conversion to put on a lycoming 0-320. does anyone have one, and if so do you like it? i just couldn't help but think that since you get "almost the same" horse power out of an 0-320 but with a lot l...
