Looks like we have a new member in Arizona. I believe AOPA included a TIC170A membership with the plane.
Congratulations sir!

Re: 75th Reunion Celebration group parking at Airventure 202
Well, that was as a crazy couple of weeks. We started with Miles and Karen’s convention up in the Soo, Miles seemed to find a way to keep the numerous rain events from occurring during our many enjoyable excursions. Thank you to the Bowen’s and all of the team that pitched in to make another great c...

Re: Where were you on 9-11-2001?
I had just finished working the morning MSP rush at Badger High Sector at Chicago Center; and I started making my way to the cafeteria to have some breakfast. In the hallway on the way there I was stopped twice by guys saying an airplane had hit the World Trade Center in New York. My thought was, it...

Yep this is always a fun event. Stop by and see our new Curtiss JN-4D Jenny, we just completed construction and we are now tuning the OX-5, we should be ready to fly her in the next month or so.

Re: Oshkosh 2021
George, Jan has coordinated a group to cover Jay at OSH. If anyone would like to volunteer, just stop by the table and pitch in. If you contact Jan, she can likely provide the list and schedule she put together.

Re: Oshkosh 2021
There is a 170 table in the type club area, but I’m not sure if the forum that Joe Scoles used to host has been handed off to a successor, after his passing.

17CD3B7A-3C38-4954-A745-1C062D8A44E8.jpeg We had a similar day a few weeks ago. Cruising at 7500 and smooth air on our way to KPGD (Punta Gorda,FL). I love days like this. We did pay for it later in the week, on our way home from KEYW (Key West, FL) we were at 2000 ft and cruising in bumpy air at 1...

Re: Call Signs
George, frankly it doesn’t matter to ATC whether you are air taxi or not. I believe, and I am just guessing, that it may have to do with operational, and regulatory restrictions. I think, your operational parameters when operating as an air taxi are different than when just operating as a civil Nove...

Re: Call Signs
There is nothing wrong with using the manufacturers name, Cessna, Piper etc., in lieu of November. Although, many times it doesn’t add anything to enhance the controllers ability in assessing aircraft performance. That’s what you are trying to convey by using a specific approved, and recognized type...

Re: Call Signs
On initial call I always just state, “Chicago center N8293A”. At busy atc radar facilities that is all that is needed to make initial contact. Since our type doesn’t have an approved, atc recognized, type name the use of November is preferred, and I always use the aircrafts full call sign on initial...
