Dennis, interesting. I went through the same pain you are experiencing trying to find replacement bearings for the rudder. In the parts manual it looks like it says Fafnir SIK5. I finally found a Fafnir S1K5 and that's the one that fits. There is no dash number involved. I got mine from KAMAN Indust...

Have you tried searching for them using the part number S1K5? Did the trick for me.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Is there a basis for approval to put the -7 and -8 (wheels forward) gear on?

C-180 Gear

Does anybody know what the deal is with putting 180/185 gear in a 170B? I know that there is at least one STC to do it, but are there more? What part and/or serial numbers are called out in the STC('s). I know that the early 180 gear was 11/16" and the later ones are 3/4". I would also ima...

Just thought I would say a few words about the subject. When I bought my airplane, it had the 80" prop on it. As far I could tell, it was pitched to 43. The only paperwork I had for the STC was the original revision, which specified a 1A175DM 8040 prop. The original STC also called out min/max ...

Rudder Pedal Bearings

What are you guys using on the rudder pedal bearings (part #s 0411263 and 0411264) for lube? I figured that normal grease or oil would just collect dirt. As I recall, the service manual is fairly vague on the subject.

Thanks

Sorry to change the subject, but here is one for you Fairbanks guys. What is the deal with that 120-140 (not sure) that is sitting on the west side with the rudder removed by the old DC-6's and such. Is that a boneyard or just someone's tiedown. I think there is a straight tail 182 and cherokee over...

Aileron Cables

Any of you guys have any "been there done that" experience changing the aileron control cables from the yoke back. Just looking for tips and/or suggestions to make the job go easier. I have to do both sides.

Thanks

Fuel Gauges

I know there have been several posts on the subject, but I couldn't find one with this problem. One of my gauges has been inop, so I took it out. Needle didn't move when I moved the linkage. I thought maybe the needle was corroded/stuck so I took the bezzle and glass apart but the needle moves freel...

Engine mount to engine bushing

Does anybody know where to get the rubber bushings for the mount to engine interface. Continental part #23411 from the original catalog. I think they are a lord mount, but don't know if the number has been superceded. I imagine somebody out there has a good source for them. Thanks.

I've got an 8041 prop on mine, and 8.50/6's. It only cruises about 105 mph indicated on these cold days.(45-55F and 2450 rpm). But it sure gets off the ground here at sea level. I'm flying off of gravel so I cant do a static takeoff but at about 1900lbs, it takes less than 500 ft. to get airborne wi...
