I have looked in vain for some reference or source here to a 170 outline/template for playing with paint scheme ideas. Anyone know where I can find one - preferably one I could play with on the computer?
Thanks.

I had very good experience with Aerotec in Halifax. Reasonable (as compared with, say, Mattituck), friendly, accomodating and well-recommended. Depending on where you are, they will pick up and deliver your engine, too.

Elevator replacement
My left elevator ('56 170b) had an unfortunate encounter with an FBO that has forgotten about conventional gear. Finding a new one or even a salvaged one is looking to be impossible, but Williams Airmotive in Indiana will rebuild this one. Any experiences?

Thanks all; I hope the adivice keeps pouring in. I am not yet persuaded that all these shops coming in at around $15000 are either losing money or cutting major corners. They all say new cylinders (usually my choice of brand), new mags and harness, new or overhauled starter, carb, sometimes alternat...

It has been a long time since your reply, Mr G., but now I need some of the same advice from you and others. My O-300D (in my '56 B model) needs overhauling. I have been looking around and am certainly dismayed by the range in prices: $12 - 24,000! Several shops (e.g., Airmark, Aerotec in Canada, Ce...

Flap Roller Larceny?
I just got a bill for replacement of the flap rollers on my '56 170. Ten hours labor @$50 and $274 for the kit (this after I pointed out to them before they ordered that even WagAero had them for $186. Should I swallow and write a check or call the police?

Alternator
I replaced my original O-300A with an O-300D in my '56 170B about ten years ago. Now my alternator is apparently shot and my mechanic can find no part number on it. The engine is a Continental but overhauled by RollRoyce. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
