Door latch repair

Well it looks like I have to figure out how go about replace my door latch. The springs seem worn out as well at the door latch itself. I was wondering if it was best to replace it with a whole new system, or try to rebuild what I have. I did some searching on the forums, but I didn't seem to come u...

Exchange Seats Question

I looked at some of the past threads and it seems that any Cessna 100 series seat will fit in my 170B except those from a 150. I know you need paperwork to do this, but my question is, are all Cessna 100 series seats interchangeable, and will they work without any modification? Or, what are my optio...

Re: Fuel Smell

Well I found it. Its the gauge. I noticed that the gauge on the right side is turning brown. I looked closer and found that the cork gasket inside the gaugewas moist with gas. It seems that when pressure is added to the fuel tank it seeps through the gauge. The I would just a soon replace the whole ...

Re: Fuel Smell

I going to check the vent clamps first. During the annual we looked at the selector but could not see anything 0bvious. When I get the smell, there is a trace of fuel stain from the vent tube on the outside of the airplane. This is a good indication that it is the vent line clamps. I will keep you a...

Fuel Smell

It has been in the last year that I am getting a fuel smell in the cockpit. I see that there is leakage from my caps and vent tube on the outside of the plane once and awhile, but not that much. I see in an earlier thread that the clamps on the vent tubes under the headliner needed to be replaced so...

Spin on oil adapter

Overhauled my C145 in the last few months so I figured with the investment that I made in the overhaul I should put on an oil filter kit. I ordered one from Wag-aero and started to put it on. I could not tighten it all the way to make it seal. I took it off and tried it on two different accessory ca...

Re: Looking to overhaul C-145

I guess I am open to shipping it out. I was thinking that if I had a problem, I could take it back in person. The $18000 was everything overhauled, engine, starter, mags, harness, generator, and carb. Rebuilding or new which every would be the best. This was at a place called Poplar Grove which is c...

Looking to overhaul C-145

Well, I put the plane away for the winter here in Wisconsin. Now I am searching for a place to take the motor (c-145) for an overhaul. I would like to do business somewhere close by. I can have the motor taken off and crated with no problem but I would like to drive it to the overhaul facility mysel...

Re: SNAP RING NEEDED FRO CLEVELAND BRAKES

You can get these parts at Spruce. I just replaced the grease seal and lock ring on my 170 a few weeks ago. They are reasonably priced.

Gear Question

I have a 170 B and have thought about putting some 180 gear on the plane for the last few years. I got a set of legs from a old flyer friend who thought they were from a 180. I can't find any numbers on the gear legs. They measure the same length as the standard gear that I have on the 170 now but t...

Re: Head liner Question

Hey Gahorn You were right on the money with the nutplate and blueprint. I use a pin and found the hole. The harness kit from Wag Aero fit like a glove. Boy, this save me a lot of time instead of taking down the headliner. It took about 3 hours total, but I am a fussy person. It is hard to believe th...

Re: Head liner Question

I forgot to give all the info. First, I have a 1954 B model. It does not have a zipper installed because it was updated with a after market headliner. It does look like it will be easier to start from the front. I am not sure it there is a doubler on the spar or not. I am not sure about the annual i...

Head liner Question

I need to get at the rear wing spar to install a shoulder harness. It will require me to remove some of the headliner to gain access to the spar. I see the shark teeth that hold it in place and can guess a couple of ways to get it lose such as inserting a putty knife and pushing in to lossen the clo...

Re: Fuel usage

I do leave it in "Both" all the time. I was never taught to do anything different. I had a Champ for years and flew it the same way. Both tanks on the Champ usally drew down fairly close. I will do some expermenting in the next flights. I just have never been exposed to this before in all ...
