Re: Photo Album

Hello All.
I had N2765D which became ZS-PVR in South Africa, and I have a few pictures of my adventures in the nearly 550 hours I flew her.
Any chance of explaining how to load pics, please?

Kind regards
Reid

Re: N2765D Now in South Africa and Registered as ZS-PVR

Well hello all, from South Africa! It is with great sadness that I have to notify you all that I sold the 170 to a guy from Cape Town. Our CAA wouldn't let me transfer her into the Uncertified Category, and I unfortunately found her too expensive to maintain. In the years that I owned her, I flew he...

Re: Bicycles in a 170

I am an avid mountain biker in South Africa and the170 I got from Seattle last year has Bass Jump seats in the back. The bikes fit perfectly in amongst the tents and backpacks and beer.
You could just whip out your rear seat and do the same?
Reid.

N2765D In South Africa

Hi there All. Last year, I had the blessing of purchasing C170B - N2765D (now ZS-PVR [Preferred Vehicle for Reid]) from Brian and KC Holm of Seattle and bringing her to SA. I started to fly her on 12 September 2007 and did 100 hours by June 2008. I had the added blessing of going to Redding CA and B...

Sorry all, I forgot to say that I have spent a lot of time beating up a runway occupied by Gnu (we call them Wildebeest) and Impala antelope, with light fading and fuel concernes in a chipmunk. The animals just don't see the need to move from the nice green pasture sometimes! It does add to the fun ...

The people were fine! Ops in Africa are dangerous, but are more so when the operators expect the pilots to do miraculous things with the loads and hot-&-high. Everyone needs experience, and the charter pilots go deep into Africa to get it, and if they don't do as they are told, then there is alw...

Thanks Bruce! Yes, I really had no problem with the A on landings. I will just knuckle down and practice. The cables shouldn't be slack because my AMO gave her the full treatment on assembly, and he has been the one flying with me to familiarise myself (he owns the A and has been a tremendous help)....

If you don't mind, What is the cost of cheap fuel over there??
I am paying $4.75 - $5.25 for a gallon (3.8litres) here in South Africa.
Thanks, Reid

Elevator Response Difference between 170A and 170B?

Hi all! It's Reid Wardle again from South Africa. I have just imported a C170B (now ZS-PVR), formerly belonging to Brian and KC Holm of Seattle (N2765D), and before she arrived here, I got a conversion onto my friend's 170A, formerly belonging to Don Diehl, also of Seattle. Well, I have had a bit of...

He is well respected all over the country as one of the most knowledgeable people in our aviation world. As far as flying i...

Brian and KC kindly dismantled her for me in Seattle and trailered her to a company that does the packing down at the docks (SeaPac) and Uti did the freight for me around The Back (China) and she hit our shores about 2months later. What a learning curve!!!! It must be said though that all my dealing...

N2765D Now in South Africa and Registered as ZS-PVR

Hello all! My name is Reid Wardle and I farm Wool and Beef in Stutterheim, South Africa. About a year ago, I started looking for a good aircraft that could fit into my ZAR (Rand) budget and be used on the farm as an inspection vehicle and an aid to curb stock theft. Being quite fond of older aircraf...
