Re: First Plane

Bought my first plane at 23, a 1947 Cessna 140, flew it for 5 years and got a wrecked J3 Cub and completely restored it. Next was a 1952 170B that I swapped a bulldozer for. Currently own a 1955 170B and a Super Cub.

Re: New Guys

N3065A, my buddy from Air Guards and neighbor owns that plane. It is alive and doing well currently on straight skis. BTW, he's a member here again with a little prodding from me.

Re: Brake pedal travel.

To gain a little pedal free play you could drain a little fluid out from the bleeder on the brake caliper. They could be over serviced, hard to tell without actually being there.

Re: Auto Gas Users

$3.10 for car gas here right now at the corner store, undoubtly could find a few cents cheaper if I look. 100LL at the 4 nearest places, $5.14 to $5.35 I am still getting alcohol free gas.I have had enough scares with lead fouling plugs and sticking valves to know what is better for my engine. I can...

Re: Auto Gas Users

The autogas STC was the best thing that ever happened to the recreational flyer. All you "Pros" can say and think what you want but the 80 oct engines run better and are more trouble free on car gas than 100LL. There are many people that love to fly but don't make $100,000 a year and durin...

Re: Engine sputtering and low static RPM?!

I have used car gas for 40 years and never had a stuck valve or any other problems. I've never used Marvel Mystery oil. Every stuck valve I have seen has been the result of using 100 OCT in an engine designed for 80.

Congratulations on your purchase, it is a nice looking airplane, but the paint scheme is not original 1955.

The only real reason for it is to screw money out of us. And I guarantee the fee will go up very quickly from the proposed $5.00

Re: '48 Metalized Wing Owners/Operators

I owned a 1947 Cessna 140 and the metal wing conversion added exactly 24 lbs to the empty weight. Really couldn't tell the difference flying it compared to the fabric wing.
