Re: Low oil temps
Do you have a dedicated ground from your new instrument panel to airframe? Yes, I have ALL instrument panel grounds going to a common buss. The test you did with your airplane probe and the Fluke probe seems to validate that the airplane probe is working correctly, but if in fact the airplane probe...

Re: Insturment panel upgrade 2
What's with everyone needing a GPS anyway? Blow the dust of the paper charts! I've got my ancient G195 mounted behind the back seat, in a bag, inside a duffle bag. It's NEVER in the way!!!  Besides, I'm pretty attached to trying to maintain a "somewhat" original looking panel. A...

Re: Low oil temps
Richard, Doug's cowl and baffles should be the same as yours other than the cowl lip. Have you compared them side by side and noted any differences? To be honest, no, I have not. But that seems like a good suggestion. Next time I'm at the airport, I'll take a look. If I had to guess, my lower cowel...

Re: Low oil temps
Being that I am reading temps as low as I am, I am VERY suspicious of a faulty guage indication. Whether that is from a bad probe, bad guage, bad ground, whatever.... that is what I am trying to eliminate here. The instrument was installed during a complete panel overhaul and airframe rewire. Althou...

Low oil temps
OK, so I've recently been doing some research and investigation..... It hasn't gotten me very far!!! Here's the story. I while back I removed the original analog oil temp guage which always ran from center of the green arc to slightly above center. I installed an EI digital oil temp/press guage. Whe...

Well, it USED to be a perfectly good plane. What a shame.

Re: The Big Dam flight and dry lake landing adventure
Doug told me he had that "auto wheel land" button removed. Something about a safety issue  . Of course, I have been wanting to install a "panic" button in front of the passenger seat in mine but I'm not too sure how to wire it up.  It was sure fun getting to meet...

Re: Panel Upgrade
FAIR WARNING. The King 209 indicators can have the OBS knob on the lower right. Almost ALL other units have them on the lower left. I know because I installed a 209 with intentions on upgrading in the future if it ever dies (or if I decided EVERYTHING must be Garmin  It's the only non garmin p...

Re: JASCO 50amp ALTERNATOR GOES OFFLINE AT HIGH RPM
Most common failure on any alternator should be diodes, (since there aren't any brushes.... right George? ). I would be suspicious of the regulator. We know that, for a short while anyway, the alternator is capable of putting out sufficient voltage which tells us that it's output should be go...

Re: "New" Whelen Parmetheus Landing and Taxi Lights
So, just curious... you said the taxi light has a wide beam which sounds great, what about the landing light? Have they focused the beam some how??? Is the distance it reaches as good as incandescent? How much were the lights? I while back, I was very temped to upgrade to HID after flying behind sev...

Re: Piano Key switch grommets
It's been a while, so I don't remember specifically how, but I do know that the switches can be replaced without much other dissasembly. I replaced my landing light switch and did not have to dissasemble the front plexi cover. As far as mounting CB's, DO NOT cut the current bracket unless you want t...

I get so gealous seeing all these pictures with nice grass runways. The dirt/rock runways out here tend to beat up my poor airplane.

Re: 170 Convention Side Trip
Of course, if we do end up flying to CNO together, I'll most definately have to throttle way back to stay with the pace of a GREEN airplane!!!   The Mrs. and I are still working out the logistics for the trip. I, or we, may be picking up a friend in fullerton, and also me...
