Re: Jasco alternator upgrade
Thanks George, You are absolutely correct about the switching and wiring. You may notice that my original topic is dated and I have actually completed the transition. Our trusty Jasco rep must have been searching the web and added the last reply. Electronics have always befuddled me so I enlisted th...

Aircraft Spruce part number 11-01945 Odyssey battery for 162.50. You will have to go to F Atlee Dodge for their battery box and stc which will run about 300.00. Some members have been simply been stuffing the Odyssey into the old battery box with foam cushion. The Atlee Dodge box is quite nice. Steve

Re: advice on landing in eastern MT prairie
Tipped my 170 over in an irrigated alfalfa field in eastern Montana. Chartis insurance covered it and they only required that I had current annual inspection, current biennial flight review, current medical. There was no adjuster going over it with a fine tooth comb to ding me on a technicality. Nic...

Re: To flap or not to flap
I have a 1950 A model and no experience in the sand but close to 1000 off airport landings. I am sure getting a light footing as quick as possible would be beneficial in the sand. The great thing about the A model is not having huge flaps and therefore taking off is simple with full flaps. Mind you ...

Re: Tailwheel flat
I am not sure what a TDO is but I suspect it is some sort of legal term that applies to aircraft parts much like a 337, a field approval or some other term like that. I am pretty sure there are no such legal terms to describe said roller coaster wheel. I would not know as it is some of my friends wh...

Re: Tailwheel flat
The American Coaster Co maker of roller coasters has a solid rubber wheel that fits the 3200 for about 20 dollars. I know a few people who have them installed with thousands of hours of use. Not one has gone flat. Weighs a bit more though.

Re: Gill G25S Rant
Gone through 3 Gill batteries in the 6 years owning my 170. I have become an expert at hand proping my plane. I also know the phone number of our class C tower because I have had to call them multiple times instead of using the radio. You remember what all those light signals mean dont you. I am ant...

Does anyone know if there is an STC holder for the Odyssey battery? If not how does the field approval process work? Steve

Re: Jasco alternator upgrade
Great that clears it up for me and makes sense to what I had seen on the wiring diagram. I saw a comment about the switches in previous discussions and it had me wondering if I was missing something. I wil procede. Thanks guys. Steve

Jasco alternator upgrade
I am considering the upgrade but in my reading on previous topics concerning this there was mention that the piano key switches could not handle the increase in power. I dont want to loose the piano keys. Comments? Steve

Re: scratching my head (Magneto/EGT problem)
OK I have figured it out. As it turns out I have a case of fleas and that was causing me to scratch my head. I did replace the EGT probe and problem solved. It was really interesting how that probe tested OK in place using a blow torch. Prior to replacing it I thought it had to be OK. When I removed...

Re: scratching my head (Magneto/EGT problem)
Thanks for helping me with this everyone and I am a novice so I appreciate all the knowledge you can pass along. I do have yellow tags for 12 lifters which I was equating with the push rods but I now understand are actually the cam followers. So George you are right. I will be replacing the EGT prob...
