Do you like the GX55? Its IFR certifiable [except for approaches] right? It uses the same tray as the flybuddy? I might upgrade eventually.

I like my flybuddy for a couple reasons: I can see it at night. My garmin 3 gps has lousy backlighting. number 2 : I can keep navigating while I change the batteries in my GPS. Number 3: I like to search the database for airport info etc while navigating with the garmin. Number 4 its a great crossch...

Good news. Ive always liked the Apollo flybuddy. They sold alot of them, I imagine there are a fair amount still in use, you can still get the data cards from Garmin.

My old C170A had an L-19 rudder on it I think. The rudder had 2 nav light holders on the trailing edge.

My father, who retired as DC-10 capt. for UAL told me he never took a MEL checkride. He passed his ATP in a Capital Airlines DC-3. He said the examiner added it to his certificate after one of his airline type checkrides. I remember him giving ME instruction :D

The other option of course is electric gyros. Non STC ones are about a grand a piece. If you are VFR and want a back up there are portable ones http://www.pcflightsystems.com

installing original type vacuum system

I want to install one venturi system as shown on page 134 of the IPC-figure 77 and need advise on locating hoses, fittings, current parts numbers, etc. Ill be using the old style gyros at the original positions. Do they still use aluminum tubing or is there something better? I have an AI, a suction ...

Russ is right, the EAA mags have gotten stale. So has AOPA PILOT. FLYING magazine is absurd. Is there a good mag about bush/grass roots flying [besides 170 News]?
