Thanks.. mine is a 55 model... I am leaning (no pun intended) towards the vernier for the reasons you gave.. Fuel consumption did not occur to me.. I just like to think I am being kinder to my engine if I can tweak and hold the mixture with some finess?

:) Well I finally got back out and spent some quality time, with "Charlie"! The problem turned out to be exactly as you all predicted... Someone had done some work at some time in the past and had replaced the right lower pulley assembly without replacing the spacers part number NAS42-10-1...

Now that's a great idea.. Tell me more.. How do I lay my hands on one??
