Bruce,
Thanks so much! I didn't notice that detail before, so thanks for pointing it out. That will work just fine!

Re: Compass Correction Card
Hello All,
Just wondering if anyone has a copy or scan of an original compass correction card (that would slide into the original retainer)?
Thanks,
Andy

Another Fuel Valve question(s)-1948
Gents, I think I have read all the threads for the 1948 fuel valve, and still have a couple questions. My bird is sn 18417, and I have had my valve out, disassembled, and back in twice now--and still a slow leak. I picked up from the threads that PN 0413020-3 superceeds to PN 9851085-1. I received a...

Re: Throttle Cable Interference
Guys, Thanks for the input. I had a good friend of mine who is a machinist (very handy to have around!) fabricate a couple of spacers at 6 degrees. The install was just a little tedious, but worked out marvelously! No interference. By the way, I have a neighbor a couple hangars down with a !70B. I r...

Re: Throttle Cable Interference
George, Just to be clear, are you saying that PN 0413150, which is called a "spacer" in my IPC is an angled shim? If so, it seems to me that an angled washer or shim would also be required on the front of the panel in order to properly tighten the throttle and avoid a side load on the plas...

Re: Solenoid/voltage regulator problem
I know this suggestion sounds simple and may be completely unrelated (my disclaimer), but years ago I had a similar sounding problem. The solenoid would ocassionally click on and off of its own accord (not usually rapidly, but sometimes). I thought I had a bad master switch, so I removed it for insp...

Throttle Cable Interference
Hello All, I just re-installed my throttle cable in my 1948 170 (currently under a long term restoration) and found that the center column of the control tee contacted the cable just prior to reaching the aft elevator stop. This causes the throttle to "bend" slightly to the left and put pr...

Re: Kick panels
Gents, While on the subject, I am in the process of getting a new interior from a shop. I have a '48 170 and the interior I am replacing is from Airtex. New panels will be used and I am making notes to improve the fit of the new ones. Does any one know whether the original kick panels for the '48 mo...

Grimes Landing light G-3602 Vs. D-3040-B?
Hello All, I have a question regarding the Grimes Landing light installed on '48 170's. I lost mine--long story(original equipment installed on my 170). I ordered a Grimes Landing Light PN G-3602 from a company on the west coast at great expense. The light that showed up was PN AN3095-7. When questi...

Staples for Baffle Seals
Hey All, I am installing original style seals on all my engine/cowling baffles. Does anyone know where to get the staples (I know there are many other attach methods, but I'm interested in originality). Of course, nothing designed to go in a staple gun will work. I have checked multiple hardware sto...

Re: Door hinge pins
Buzz, I'm afraid I can't help much, but I've been interested in the same problem for a while now. I went to a Cessna supplier (Lane Aviation) to look at the pin and discovered exactly the pin you have. The price was around $12 per pin. I couldn't see any advantage, so I used the pin material from ex...

Exhaust Stack Brace
Another question Gents. The IPC for my '48 170 lists the [Brace Assembly-Muffler] as PN 0550125. This, of course, is in reference to the "pancake" exhaust system. Mine is the Hanlon Wilson variety. During the restoration, I removed the existing brace which was quite clearly homemade and si...
