Re: Flight of Passage
I have fond memories of flying my newly-purchased Aeronca Champ from Bend, Oregon to Louisiana. GPS had not been invented and all I had were a shaky wet compass, a sectional, and a Texaco road atlas. Did really well except for a few times over Death Valley and and the Arizona desert where there were...

Re: 8.00-6 tire ply rating?
Thanks Bruce and Aryanna. I will let you know how they do, although I suspect I won't be able to tell the differed from my old 6 ply tires.

Re: 8.00-6 tire ply rating?
Is the weight rating for each tire, or for the total weight of the plane ?. I see 4 ply tires are rated only to about 1200 lbs. Would that be 2400 for two tires, not including the tailwheel, and therefore ok on our birds? I ask because a friend has two Flightcustom II 8.00x6 4 ply tires with only a f...

Re: Parachute Flares
I have a stiffener with three holes where a flare launcher would likely be placed, but the exterior skin is intact. No rack for flares either.

Re: Time For A Report
Frank, the crowd this year was a good one. Sorry to see your camping spot taken by a stranger, too. Met a few new (to me) members and had a great time, as expected.

Antenna mast on top of cabin
Thanks, Bruce. Tell me how much with shipping and I will send a check. What did you tell me about how I should attach the base to the airplane?

proper break-in
My overhaul is almost finished, so I am wondering what the prevailing opinions about proper break-in are. Full throttle, balls-to-the-wall? How long? What's your opinion?

Re: Shock mounts
Funny how here in the forums I can find things that my AI cannot. Guess he is used to "newfangled" airplanes.

Shock mounts
I need new engine/shock mounts. Spruce doesn't have them. Lord doesn't list the 170 in their database. Any ideas?

So far looks like lunch at Gaston's and Petit Jean, may try Mountain View too. Is that where the folk center is?

Flying Into Petit Jean
May have the opportunity to go to Petit Jean soon. Does anyone know if the Lodge reopened? Is there a way other than walking to get to the Lodge from the airport? Also, other than Gaston's and Petit Jean, are there any other places in northwest Arkansas or southern Missouri that I need to see? Will ...

Original instruments for '56
Does anyone have a picture of or a list of the original instruments for a 1956 model? Mine is mostly original and I am thinking of replaceing a few "new " instruments with originals. I see Rusty has a nice cylinder head temp gauge over on the left side. Was that original?
