Re: Cessna 170A Restoration w/TLGW Cont IO-360 STC
"We will replace the firewall which will allow us to do the avionics install/upgrade from the front. This alone will make the radio work much easier than the 172 where we did much of the wiring out of the plane." Firewall out makes rebuilding the rudder pedal/brakes an easy task with the e...

Re: fuel tank leak
Vacuum strong enough to pull epoxy into a crack will easily crush the fuel tank. Blocked vents have been known to crush fuel tanks. I dont remember the dimensions of the 170 tanks off the top of my head, so a here's first approximation 21 gallon volume X 231 cubic inches per gallon = 4850 cubic inch...

Re: Instrument panels
I sent a panel file for a quote to Sendcutsend.com - they do waterjet and laser cutting among other things. Price, shipped, for a 170 sized panel (different project) with the instrument holes, hardware holes, etc cut out of .125 2024 aluminum was under $100. I have no prior experience with this comp...

Re: Gross Weight
I've been told for the last 23 years by a number of people that a gross weight increase was coming really soon for big engine 170s.
I have zero confidence that anyone from the fuzz is gonna stick their neck out to approve anything of the kind.
Prove me wrong.
Please.

German WW2 helicopters. Who knew? I guess my education is not yet complete.
Might be a late night on the internet geeking out on that subject.
Thanks George.

I worry less about vehicles poorly modified by amateurs than stock vehicles poorly driven by the inattentive and the incompetent. There are so many more of the latter.

If you can post or send me a drawing with dimensions, I'd be happy to turn it into a cad file and post it here in *.dxf format or whatever you want.
