Oil Pressure Gauge

Does anyone know of a source for the original style Rochester (Scott made by Rochester?) oil pressure gauge for a 1955 B-model. Mine is putting an oil sheen on the panel below the gauge, yet the fitting is perfectly dry, so I’m suspecting the bourdon tube is failing.

Re: Cowlings needed for 1954 170B

If you use a 56-58 upper cowl on a 53-55 airplane you’ll want to add the access door on the right side.

I can’t remember the number, but Continental has a service bulletin describing how to prep an engine if it isn’t going to be flown for 30 days.

Re: O-300A vs O-300D identification

I noticed you said the cockpit photo shows a key start. Key or push button start on an O-300A is possible with either of the aftermarket “lightweight” starters.

Re: Louisiana 1953 170-B for sale (Posted for Ron Massicot)

A bit sad to see this one change hands. When I lived in Mississippi 1991-1996, Ron I spent a lot of time following each other around the country to and from 170 Conventions.

Re: Electrical Troubleshooting?

That airplane belonged to Ed Booth for somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 years or more, and knowing Ed it didn’t leave him with that issue. I’d go back in the logbooks and see what’s been installed since he sold it (spring of 2021 IIRC). The yoke ball cup is attached to the fixed part of the panel...

Re: Craftsman hand-tool warranty

George, if you headed WEST from Durango, it wasn’t the 2003 Convention (Wilmington, NC). 2002 or 2004, perhaps?

Re: Craftsman hand-tool warranty

All twist caps now  Ol’ Gar is in his 80’s; he may very well use the wrench anyway.😉 I bought my first (Craftsman) tool kit in 1976, when I moved too far from home to access Dad’s shop. The only time I ever took advantage of the warranty was a gross case of abuse: I used the 3/8 drive ratchet ...

Re: 2024 Cessna 170 Convention, Elizabethtown, Kentucky

Since in the history of the 170 Association there has never been a convention held in September, I thought I was safe booking an Inside Passage Cruise to Alaska that month. The ship gets back to Seattle on the 14th, so we may make the last day of the convention.

Could it be a ‘48 with modified fuel line routing to eliminate the requirement for a fuel pump?

2024 Convention Hotel

Karen and I stopped in Elizabethtown, KY on our way to Tennessee and are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn, the hotel that 2024 Convention hosts John and Cindy Swanson have chosen for next year’s 170 Convention. It looks like a nice hotel for the convention. It’s about 15 minutes from the convention ...

Re: IFR Capable 170's

Gary, I feel certain your manifold /check valve scenario is the explanation; I haven't been able to squeeze in far enough to find it yet. If it is there I am also certain it has not been inspected in a long time. Miles, I am intrigued by your Safe Flight SVS, but have not been able to find any info...
