Prop/ski question

I read the different posts on the larger props, I am still salivating. Can someone tell me if the larger prop (Borer and such) gives more effectiveness to the rudder on the ground. You see me coming with my big skis? Would it make turns on skis and X-wind taxiing easier? Or are we just talking getti...

I have a '52 with ElReno adaptor and the Bartone stacks. The bracket to support (goes from one side of engine mount to the other) comes close but no problem removing/installing the spin on filter. Just changed the oil and filter yesterday as a matter of fact. I did not have to change the gascolator'...

I bought a non vented cap (FC2646 @ $11.10) and a couple of gaskets (FC2651 @ $1.50) page 159 Aircraft Spruce. All fit good on my '52 B model. I haven't seen the vented caps, but they are only $11.85... JD

John, you have to mount the Nulites between the instrument and the panel. Which brings me to something I forgot to mention the first time: You will need some longer brass screws and if you are using instrument mounting nuts, they will either have to be longer or you'll just have to "nip" o...

John, I had considered installing the fiber lites. Spoke to a tech friend who tells me they install them in helicopters all the time and they work great. The ones in Spruce are not PMA'd or STC'd. I went withh the Nu-Lite system instead. I had them in a Cherokee a few years back and liked them then ...

Actually, it is insurance companies that will not let school planes or rental planes (150's, 172's and cherokee types) land at grass strips. For the longest time, the one place I know of made a big stink about not flying their nose draggers into gravel strips; now, that I can understand. The reason,...

Hey Bruce, when renewal came around last May, Avemco wanted 40% more than the previous year (200 hours later). When I first insured the 170B, being it was my 1st TD, I had to pay a price for that, with the understanding that I needed 5 hours dual and that after 25 hours, I would get a reduction, the...

Mine is mounted on top of the panel. It is positioned in the center and does not affect the hand-grab holes. If you mount it high, more exposure to the heat of the sun? and you'll have to run longer wire for light. JD

I wrote Susan before vacation. Here is her reply: Hi Jean Daniel, Susan has been working four jobs, and waiting for her husband to get his pilot's license. He just took the ground written test today and got 97% on it. I have a taildragger instructor lined up to start teaching me again as soon as Joh...

I also have a 3200A (turned up arms) and the eyebolts. The angle is definitely not as steep. I am not sure if it improves steering, but since doing that, rigging the rudder properly, aligning the mains, changing the tail springs... It tracks nicely but still nneed brake assist in X-Wind taxiing and ...

Bruce, I hear what you say and had been told that for ski operation, that extension would be a great idea. I will try next winter. I also saw what mit said and I don't anticipate that problem cause I have a penetrating ski for the tail. Now, about worse geometry with the 3200A (3214T arm). One thing...

Have you heard of the California prop? A friend with a '53 B model has a C145-2 and has one of these props. I don't know who makes it (Sen or Mac) there is this shop in California that takes this "polished" prop and makes it thinner, I don't know if they repitch also, but they shave it dow...

Hi Bruno, if you are thinking of floats, short strips and bush, you should invest in a STOL kit. Price of a float kit depends on who installs it and what you consider a complete float kit: With V brace, fueling steps and handles and lifting rings or just the attach points. A couple of guys that got ...
