Re: High Oil Temp?
I have the same problem during the summer. I used a digital laser thermometer and found that the gauge reads 25 deg hotter than the actual temperature. So the temperature was actually within limits.

Fuel smell
When I am flying and getting tossed around, I can smell a faint odor of fuel. I have not been able to find any staining or seeping. I have looked under the wing root cover and not found any staining. I replaced the vent lines and hoses with no difference. I thought it might be coming from the fuel g...

Re: Assist staps
I spoke to JW Duff today, who said he doesn't have any on hand but is looking for some for another person. He said to call back in a week and he may have located some by then. His number is 303/399-6010. Good luck.

Step kit
I am interested in adding a step and handle to my 170B. It is the setup from a C172 that you use to get above the wing to fuel the acft. Is it an authorized/approved modification, since it is a Cessna part, or does it need a 337 or STC?

Re: cowl latch dzus fasteners
Thanks for the info. Had to settle for the slotted head, but it was relatively easy to install and works great. John

Re: cowl latch dzus fasteners
I checked all fasteners available from Spruce, and none are long enough to go through the existing latch and engage the spring inside the cowl.

cowl latch dzus fasteners
I would like to get information about adding dzus fasteners to the original cowl latch levers. I saw a 170 on the Flagstaff ramp with phillips dzus fasteners added to the latch lever. I want to mechanically fasten the latches, rather than depend on the friction from the spring clip. I would like to ...

Replacement Door Handles
I recently purchased replacement door handles, after reading the article in the newsletter, from LMC trucks. They were not OEM handles. They were the wrong size, not splined correctly, used a phillips set screw to secure, rather than the original spring clips, and were made in Taiwan. It cost me $15...
