Found in the AOPA on-line news letter, 7 Feb 03: HONDA, CONTINENTAL TEAM UP ON PISTON ENGINE DEVELOPMENT Honda and Teledyne Continental have teamed up to study the market for the next generation of piston aircraft engines. Honda has already developed an engine that company officials said is more adv...

Mid Atlantic 170s
Hi John, There is about 5 or 6 170s in Eastern Maryland that I've seen....they are the ones with the round tail thing on the back. There is a pretty good seafood resturant at Kentmore. MD an easy walk from the airport, but it's best in warm weather when the crabs are in. You can walk to Hemingways a...

Hi George!! Understand your point and it's not important that we agree on this issue. Guess I just love flying and want things to be better for my kids and the others we leave behind. And, safety is VERY important to me, however, society has circumvented the natural culling process of the herd, allo...

Market share
George, Reality is a scary thing........ If we round our association plane ownership numbers to an even 1000 and 5% needs a rebuild every year, I think that equals $750,000 just for the engine costs per year....not big bucks, but perhaps could get the attention of a "shade tree" somewhere....

When pig fly.........
blueldr is correct....you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear............you can, however, make a really handsome little leather bag that is stronger and more practical than a silk purse!! We have the technology!! If we can build $2K engines (new) for $20K cars that run 200,000 miles and get ...

Easy does it!!
Eric,
Perhaps you're playing too rough with the jugs. I'm told they prefer a soft tender touch, wine, soft music and a hot tub also helps!!

Culinary delight!!
George,
Eric is correct....rare to see goat head soup south of the border anymore...used to be served with pickled Baloot eggs and palm seed crackers....may still be available in Kandahar if they didn't blow up the resturant or shoot the chef.

Really dangerous!!
I recently read that health care professionals are directly responsible for over 120,000 deaths per year!!!! Maybe the real problem is getting mildly sick or hurt....then going to the doctor!! The comments regarding safety features in cars are right on....they are modern and reliable, due in part to...

Just one more 2 cents
Just one more opinion, and we all know what they are like....... Make sure you have a WORKING DG (electric is great)(most won't tumble at strange attitudes) a VSI/Altimeter and that stupid little ball and needle (got them anyway...right?) AND at least a couple hours of unsusal attitiude recovery tra...

Pump up the old iron!!
Happy new year to everyone!! I'm not an expert here, but following a quick run thru the Summit catolog, it would seem that a good high performance intake ($150) and exhaust system ($225) and a high energy ignition ($400) should get you a 30% increase at least and that's an I0-360 power or maybe an 0...

Great info!!! Anybody know where there is another raffle for these things? I have been easedropping on some Super Cub web pages and they seem to like the BLRs for landing, saying the Micros work best on takeoff....sounds like the results were the same on the 170B. Super Cubbers really like the BLRs,...
