Do I dare ask about cost and availability? Time to start calling the junkyards. Anyone have recommendations on the bubbles versus the flat? Thanks for the quick reply Doug.

window frame

I noticed on my recent trip to PANC that there was a large number of 170's with both windows able to be opened. Currently, I can only open the driver's side door window but would like to convert the other window to the latch and hinge setup. Is the frame from a 172 the same? I only have manuals for ...

Performance Charts

I am trying to find more performance information than the owners manual. Specifically, I am interested in aircraft takeoff and landing distances at different weights. Charts above 7,000 ft would also be helpful. I currently have the 7653 prop and c-145 engine. The reason being I am planning a trip o...

Rudder Rigging

I originally found that my rudder had only one stop and realized later when comparing the IPC to my rudder hinge that a previous repair had apparently ground off the stop and bent the hinge back into position to cover a crack. 8O This went unnoticed for years as the detail spent covering up the dama...

Rudder Hinge & Bellcrank

I replaced the rudder hinge and bellcrank today after finding that the originals were far worse than I thought. All seems to be from hangar damage years ago that was never repaired correctly and then covered up to look normal!!! I looked at the IPC and did not see any rudder stops on the rudder hing...

tailwheel spring

Thanks for the clarification, makes me feel better when I have to order the parts and do not know the expertise on the other end of the phone.
Thanks again,

Tailspring

I might have missed it earlier in these posts but I do not recall whether IPC 0542106 is the item being replaced. I assume you want the main spring replaced at 500 hr intervals with the radius work done on IPC 0542105. I see that Aircraft Spruce has two springs for sale, one for $70 and one for $170...

ss screws

I know those stainless screws are pretty and I have them all over mine, but I think I might go back to cadmium plated ones after burning through several drill bits and battery charges on the DeWalt to remove a frozen one.

Rudder Hinge

My old illustrated parts catalog lists this part as a rudder hinge p/n-0510109 but the couple of folks I talked to did not have the cross reference. It is the steel bracket that holds the rudder bearing and is riveted to the lower tail above the tailwheel spring. Yes, I am still looking for one. Tak...

Bracket and Brakes

I tried to post earlier so if this is a repeat I will apologize now. My parking brakes were disconnected before I got my plane (170a) so I am wondering if there is a better way of hooking them up without worrying about locking them up inadvertenly. I also would like to know if the bracket that holds...

To-do-list

I found that when I got my 170a the parking brake had been disconnected for me. Is there a safer way to keep the brake or is the whole setup bad? Also, is there a name and part number for the steel lower tail bracket that supports the rudder bellcrank? Mine is cracked and I am looking to replace or ...

I looked into the REAL gaskets and they come to about 80 bucks a cylinder. Are they really worth it for $480 or am I missing something? I hate to drip oil but I sure can buy a lot for that kind of money.

C145 exhaust

I have been told of a certain type of exhaust called "Handlin Williams" sp.?I am trying to replace the exhaust on my A model because the fit seems incorrect though we have tried to adjust it several times. I was told the H.W. will fit with better clearance for the intake runners which seem...
