Yep George, that's exactly the thing I was talking about. I was a victim of a similar case of a mechanic intentionally not filing the 337. I can't remember a 337 that I've filed without making a log entry. But I've also been hurt by lost or discarded records from a CRS so I highly recommend if an ow...

Re: Log Book Entry
Gentlemen, Forget the letter of the Law? Not necessarily, but Good bookkeeping pratices should prevail within the letter of the law. The log book entry and the 337 tied together. Example: I maintained a PA-36 for a period of ten years or better. In that time there had been numerous 337s. Well into ...

Here is one to stir the pot. At one of my IA seminars it was pointed out that you only had to keep the current copy of maintenance performed ie annual sign off etc, until it was redone. At that point you could legally throw the previous record away and go with the new current maintenance entry. I f...

Craig Good to hear it worked for you. Next try the clay bar on your car or airplane paint prior to waxing. You won't believe the difference it makes. I had missed mentioning the alcohol so George got one in on me  It's usually my first try but with over spray clay bar usually works easier. Ther...

Sky Very nice. I read the whole thread. Size it up for my Hacker 40 geared and I'm all for the building. BTW I think a 195 kit would need to be large enough to have ailerons so you don't spoil the flat wing look which is a large part of what makes it neat. I've owned seven 195's, six for resale and ...

Kevin There is an STC for the 180 gear. The others are correct in going the easy way with the 8:00 tires UNLESS you want dual puck brakes. If so it's the 199-62 kit like for the 180 and tires up to 8:50 are approved. Since I want to go to the dual pucks I started the field approval process early Jan...

Craig Be sure the airplane has a lot of ventilation to let the interior paint dry. I bought a 195 from a fellow who had replaced his windshield then painted the instrument panel overlay. He let it dry for a few days then put it in the plane. Outside in Boise it cooked some remaining solvents out and...

Re: Yoke & Yoke tubes
I think the baking must be done right after the parts are pulled from the plating tank.derf62 wrote:(snip)After reading the postings I see where a few of the guys are recc that you bake the tubes for 4 hours at 350. Is this a must?
After I receive mine I shall post my findings. FRED

When I did mine I was able to find longer Cessna yoke rivets that were a lot cheaper, like $5 each. Cut them down on my lathe and made some simple tools to install. Check that out. You can tell the longer rivets by part number. Anyway, the hassle was worth it to me just so I wouldn't have to look at...
