Replaced them both during the annual and rudder cable replacement. Not sure what my FBO will charge, but they sure do make a difference.

Bottom line, if you get a chance to replace them you probably should.

Thanks for the direction.

Hey Joe, we got duct tape in MN too! In fact, I've got the camo style stuff. Use it all the time. And Eric, I knew I was setting myself up for a response like yours! I too have the strips along side the seat that hold the belts. What happens is that the belt twists more than falls down. The bo...

Seat (lap) belt holder?

I'm having trouble with my lap belt getting caught between the seat skirt and the flap tunnel. Just installed new carpet and because of the thick pile, the seat belt and lower buckle get jammed between the tunnel and the seat skirt. When I hold the seat belt tight, the belt remains parallel to the s...

Thanks for the tips. My A & P installed my handles today and they look great. And work well to. We put stainless screws in instead of rivets. A buddy of mine with a 195 did that. Just provides a bit easier access if you need to drop the handles and get access into the tail. And Dave, I can see w...

Gosh, Dave - sorry that what should have been one of life's best events has turned sour for you. Stick with it. Be firm.

Can't wait to see it at Petit Jean. Am guessing to all of us it won't be as big a deal as it is to you. But it's a shame the owner won't make it right.

Replace rudder return springs?

During my current annual, we found a few broken strands on the rudder cable - so obviously we're replacing those cables. My mechanic asked that I also pose the question "should the rudder return springs be replaced too when replacing the rudder cables?" Thoughts? I've searched the historic...

What basis (if any) did Cessna use for model numbers?

OK, a non-aviation friend asked me the other day as to why his friends 195 was named a 195. I did not know. It got me to thinking, why was the 120 a 120, a 140 a 140, and most importantly a 170 a 170? (I know, Harold will want to also know why the 180 was a 180 too  ) Any basis for their number...

Sounds like they turned out great! Can't wait to see the results.

Will this person be at Petit Jean? Maybe others who are interested. I'm thinking my rear windows could use this clean up - assuming it works as well as you say.

Hey Dave, tell us more about the process your guy used. Sounds interesting and many of us may jump at something similar. What's it called? Company/franchise name, etc.?

Thanks, Dave. I had looked through the member list by name but could not find gnpnast. I've since sent them a pm. The web site looks nice. You've put some work into it. You must have taken some classes in photo editing too. Our 170, Frank and Joe all look youthful and robust! It's amazing what touch...

Dave, I can't seem to find the post or user info on our member list for gnpnast. Where'd you see this posting? Are they in MN? I'd like to contact them about Petit Jean.

I'm doing some selling trying to get as many 170s there as possible.

Do it Dave! You'll be glad you did. I was getting tailwheel shimmy last summer, so I replaced all the springs. Took care of the shimmy. And I could not believe how much higher the tail sat up. It's an inexpensive thing to do. Don't forget to take the edge off the springs so they don't cut into each ...

Hey Brad - Welcome. I went through a similar decision process 18 months ago. Was thinking about a champ but my wife likes flying (she too has her ticket) and didn't want to always sit in the back where visibility is limited (she knows me too well  ). So then I thought about the 120/140. Great l...
