I like the calendar idea. I ordered several from Susan but never received them. I'd be interested. Count me in (course I might reconsider if it's only got pictures of those shiney polished models with some guy grinning in the reflection showing off the fact that he has no teeth!) Gotta have somethin...

We just put the Whelen strobes on - my Christmas present from Becky (gotta love that, eh?!) I can't believe how many comments I've received in the last few weeks about how great they look and how visible they are. Everyone at the airport notices. Can only expect that they'd do the same with ot...

Jeez, Joe. It finally dawned on me why you live in Texas. Nice weather and naked women! Wow! We've got the typical MN winter inversion. High humidity, low vis, cool, not enough snow to get in the x-mas spirit and all the women are wearing wool. You'd think they were sheep. Baaaaa Humbug. Let's get t...

For cold Minnesota flying I also push in some high density foam padding. I roll it up and slid it into the vent can where it expands nicely to fill the void. Helps reduce the draft and can be easily removed if needed by simply reaching up and removing the foam. You'll find it at a fabric shop, or sc...

You mean to tell me you guys don't know what a Braque D'auvergne is? Geez. Thought you guys knew everything. It's a versatile hunting dog from France. Some fru fru breed that Becky liked, so I guess I'm forced into putting up with the dog too. My ISP doesn't provide a place for pictures so I ...

I'll add to the fray.... I too have the typical cracks coming in the cowling located in the rear of the cowling and low on each side. Appears that the cowling has been patched with a piece riveted in. But it too has cracked. Almost all 170s that I look at also have cracks in this spot. Any solution ...

Goota love them dogs! I've had labs and my wife likes the pointers. Guess we've got the best of both worlds covered. Just last week during our pheasant season opener I walked past the grave of my first dog - which happened to be my wedding present from my wife Becky. Funny how little things like tha...

Mount Rushmore
Had to go to a wedding last weekend in Rapid City South Dakota. (Reminds me of the old joke - "You know the difference between a wedding and a funeral? You can smell the flowers at the wedding!" ) So anyway, the obvious way to get there was to fly. Becky and I got up early on Sat...

Thanks guys for the tips. Think we found our problem. We pulled stuff apart today and it seems like there's too much free play. So we ordered new pins and backing plates. We still plan to put the flexible ends on the lines as well. Any specifics on how long the flexible line should be? I've searched...

Brake squeel
I've got a brake that's driving me crazy. Makes a squeeling noise. Goes REEK, REEK, REEK as the tire rotates. As soon as I apply a bit of brake the noise goes away. I had my A&P put new pads and rotors on at last annual approx. 50 hours ago. Brakes work just fine. I have solid brake lines and pl...

I've got a yoke mount for the 196 and do use it when it's IFR. Just easier on my scan. But for 90% of the flying we do (my wife and I are both pilots) we simply use the Garmin bean bag mount. Seems like we both want to see where we're going! Just put the unit on the bean bag and lay it on the top of...

We too had a great time. We parked in Vintage camping along side a great polished '48 C170 owned by Dan Wood of Spring Hill TN. Like all the members we've met, Dan is a great guy. We met other C170 members that we've met in our travels as well as some new ones. Had fun stopping by the Type Club tabl...
