I have been using FlyQ for about three years and really like it. They are always improving it with input from the users, especially a guy I know who is constantly requesting changes. I have Foreflight but find it less responsive and clunky to use. that is my two cents.

Re: AZUSA tailwheel tires
I have been using one for about a month with no problem. The aero lasted less than a year and tore away from the interior webbing. So much for Chinese rubber. The Azusa is made in Vietnam and appears to be real rubber.

Re: new tail wheel spring issues
I learned from the club that my tail wheel was excessively greased. It would wobble as I taxied. Will tighten the castleated nut to take 15 ft/lbs. thanks for the help.

Re: new tail wheel spring issues
I took my Scott 3200 tail wheel off and cleaned the excessive amounts of grease from the exterior and interior of the unit. My question is how tight should the nut be on the bolt that holds the unit together? I tightened it until the unit could not be swiveled and backed the nut off so the unit woul...

Re: Secondary seat stop service kit
I had mine installed in late December. It took about an hour and a half. Works well. Spanafight is a Cessna shop. I have later model 172 seats, so it was easy for them to install.

Are you planning on going up the coast or going by way of the trench? It makes a big difference in gas and time.

Re: Navigation Systems for iPads
I have used WingX pro and FlyQ. Both are very good but with the latest changes in FlyQ it is better. Have used a Clarity receiver and the latest I pad. The horizontal and vertical situation awareness for both are good, especially in the mountains around here. I would not use it IFR, however.

Re: How long is your 170's airstrip?
Our strip is supposed to be 1800' but you have a road on approach. If it is 1500 I would be amazed. We do how ever have 4 170's based here.

Re: Ground Looped Aircraft Purchase
Since I recently had my 170 repaired, my advice is to carefully check the 337's. They should be signed off by an ia not a a&p. The repairs are major alterations. If the repair is inboard of the last two ribs a jig should have been used. Also were new parts used or refurbished used.

Re: Approved Data
After several hours of discussion with two very helpful local ASI's, what I have learned is that the pre-1962 service Manual for 172's, 180's, etc but not for the 170's can be used as acceptable data since the wing is the same as the wing on the 170b. This applies since the part numbers are the same...

Re: Approved Data
I really appreciate the input on this. The question arose because around our little airport there was disagreement over whether the manual was approved data or not. That included other IA's. So I think the safest route would be to send the 337's to the FSDO and get data approval. It has only been 10...
