Landing/Taxi Lights
And keep in mind that no adjustment is going to result in "great" illumination of the runway you are to land on. It is better than none by a whole lot, but far, far, far from the illumination experienced by auto headlights, both old and new. Sure helps if the runway is lighted at ground le...

Attending First Convention
I have already used up my time here saying what I feel about how great the conventions are, but reading Paul's comments brought home a point that had I not ever decided to go to my first convention, also in Jennings, LA, Becky I would not have met Paul, Debra & family & they live 30 or so mi...

Odyssey Batteries
Notice that the PC-625 can be purchased on line for about $80 + shipping. Don't know what the shipping charge is however. Shipping weight is 15 lbs. Do you know what the actual weight is? How does this compare weight wise to a Gill G-25? Does it fit the battery box OK? I notice you mention using som...

Conventions
You need to come regardless of what customizing you have done to your 170. Why I have even seen a tricycle geared 170 at one or two conventions I have attended. Imagine that! They even let folks with Bonanza's, Pipers, Stinsons, and even some wierd 172 conversions (grin)attend. So please come on to ...

Mesquite Fired 170's
Bruce, you need to get a few tons of mesquite beans, simmer them in some magic potion and the resulting brew should give you at least 115/145! (GRIN)

Joe "Straight Wing" Harris
Joe, when you got your new certificate, did you have to surrender your orginal? Did it show a different effective date (if your orginal date of certificate issuance was -for example- 12-12-92, did the new certificate show 12-12-92 or did it show 12-??-03K?) Finally, did your certificate number chang...

Tail Wheel Springs
Very good, clear photo of your tailwheel setup. Now, what is the aircraft just beyond your 170? Just beyond that Red PMA's devise (aka: milk crate; I use them also. Grin!)

Spare Tire-Tube
Several folks also carry an inflated spare tire, tube & tailwheel. Adds more weight, but eliminates having to pump up a spare or disassemble the tailwheel, etc. Would be interested is suggestions for a source for a "spare" tail wheel. Don't need or particularily want a "new" ...

Proper Prop
Can't give any advise myself, but just met an interesting gentleman @ Kilgore, TX this past weekend who has a '55 170 (no he isn't a member, but I am working on him) with the 180 Lyc. conversion AND a fixed pitch prop. He might be able to shed some light on the subject. His name is W A Reynolds and ...

Walker, I want to wish you sucess with your panel restoration. George is correct and will continue to be a great deal of help to you. However, be careful about calling him or referring to him as "Mr. Horn". We don't want to give him the BIG HEAD!!!!! (GRIN) Incidently, ole George showed up...

C-180/182/185
The early C-180's were basically the same airframe as the C-170/172's. Same cabin width, length, height, etc. There may have been some more of a beefed up door post and/or firewall to handle the heavier, more powerful engine and they had a 60 gallons of fuel capacity. After 1953 all had an exterior ...
