Re: Overhead Speaker
I all did a lot of business with Radio Shack/Tandy Corporation "in the day". Hated to see that business go away. Charles Tandy must have rolled over in his grave when the company went under.

Prop Strike (Off Topic Split from Windshield Center Strap )
Unless that engine was trash and the rest of the plane was headed to the scrap yard, that seems a very poor example of judgement. To each his own I guess.

Re: Recommended Modifications/Repairs for 170 Owners
Comment & Question I may be repeating myself on this, but I originally purchased an L-19 tailwheel bolt from Air Repair, Inc in Cleveland, MS back in July of 2004 when George brought this item to the association's attention. It worked well for many years, but eventually I noticed the bolt was tu...

Re: Door Stops & Stop latch
Many yrs ago I purchased a set of these called Sky Catch (I think that was the name). They work reasonably well. Much better than the original Cessna ones. However, even thought there is a way to adjust the tension, it will only hold so much. With our planes sitting tail down, gravity works against ...

Re: Experienced O300D Shop
Air Planes in Wellington, KS has vrs STC's for engine upgrades. One of my friends here has a "60 model 172B that has their Lycoming O-360, fixed pitch, 180 hp conversion. It has either a 200 or 250 lb gross wt increase. Another friend has a C-180 with their conversion and he says it also has a ...

Re: Experienced O300D Shop
I think the O300 series are good engines. They are smooth, reasonable maintenance, reasonable fuel consumption (and most leak  ). We have to recognize that its maximum output is 145 hp (on a good day) and not 160, 180, 200, etc. I think a lot of us wish we had more power, faster speed, greater...

Re: Experienced O300D Shop
Jim, if I remember my ride with you during the Bardstown convention, you have a cs prop and I could clearly feel the difference in acceleration on take off. Don't recall what your experience has been speed wise over an O300.

Re: ADS-B IN (SCOUT)
Thanks for your suggestion George. I'll give it a trial. FF has apparently exhausted its efforts to resolve my issue and have suggested my dealing with uAvioni. They say their engineers have no more suggestions.

ADS-B IN (SCOUT)
Curious if anyone has had an issue with the uAvioni Scout unit when using ForeFlight? I've been using a Scout since 2018 prior to getting the TailBeacon unit. I'm having issues with the Scout disconnecting. Sometimes it works as it should and other times not. They sent me a new unit at no charge whi...

Check with Murfreesboro Aviation (KMBT) if you are thinking of flying to a shop. Jim Gardner is the owner. Best mechanic is Mason Marshman. 615-494-1900 There are others in the area. If you have questions PM me.

I sure wished I could have joined you guys at the Smokehouse. I used to stop in there every so often when traveling to and back from OK. Flew into Gainesville several times just to go over there. Miss that good Texas BBQ.

Re: TailBeacon
Thanks Brian. I will keep your suggestion in mind. I was able to preform the FF suggested procedure with the plane in the hangar (got good IN data on aircraft in the area). I am not sure this will give FF what they want, but will be forwarding the "logging" data to them and see what they s...

Re: TailBeacon
These recent posts brought to mind my experience with the TailBeacon. My '56 172 rudder was not grounded by a grounding strap. As previously stated, I ran a new power wire from the bottom of my rudder and a ground wire up inside the rudder. My unit has worked flawlessly with one recent exception. On...

Re: Taxi/landing light switch
When I remove my switch I will see about opening it to see if it might have the same issue as your switch. If I'm lucky it might be fixable.
Of course I always check those vrs cks you mentioned
