Rear seat anchor (back one)
Some (may be many) yrs ago there was an article on how to replace the rear nut plate that holds the back seat anchor. Anyone happen to have a date that has that article? Too many yrs of removing/installing the rear seat has worn the nut plate so it no longer holds the bolt. Even better would be an e...

Re: O-360 install
Congratulations on getting your O-360 installed and flying. I would expect you to see an increase in climb rate and some shorter take off distance, all things being equal. I would not expect you to experience much extra speed unless your O300 was worn out. I fly with a friend who has the Lyc O360 an...

Not sure which 170 you installed them, but in my ‘56 172TD installation was easy. What issues did you have?

Re: Headliner Replacement - Suggestions?
I agree with George and Miles. The wool headliner is the perfect replacement. Mine has been in since January of 1990 and still looks good. There, of course, has been quite a price increase. I paid AirTex $165 in 1990. Last time I checked they were $465

Re: Clean, Buff, or Paint?
Our long gone 170 friend/member Joe Harris put me on to Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom/kitchen sink handles as a cleaner for the crud on my plane's belly. Applied in fairly small areas, allowed to foam up, wiped off with a rag, not paper towels (although I haven't tried the paper towels). Its messy depe...

Re: FINALLY! ... A Cold Day in Hell.
Coldest and the most ice we've seen in the 8 yrs in Murfreesboro (Middle TN). Ready for some sunshine and above 32 deg temps. Guess we will have to wait a few more days because as Hineywheel Bill said, there's a possibility of up to 4 additional inches of snow this afternoon and into Thursday. That ...

Re: Aft fuselage inspection panel
May not be relevant, but on my '56 172 TD in 2001 we discovered a small crack in both sides of the doubler panels that were added during the Bolen conversion. We drilled out all of the rivets, removed the bolts and my IA had them welded by a professional in Grand Prairie, TX. He suggested replacing ...

Thanks George. I wasn't aware of this. I'm not familiar with other brands of retractable shoulder straps.

Re: Retractable shoulder harness?
I am 5' 11" also and have learned that I can leave my shoulder straps somewhat loose and just barely reach the flap button with my middle finger. After doing this time and again I learned how to rotate my right shoulder a bit and reaching the flap button is easier. Try different techniques and ...

Welcome to the 170 association Drew. Hope you can get comfy with the 170. Its a sweetheart once you get a bit more experience. Good luck on either partnering with the current owners or making an outright purchase. Let us know how you are progressing with 2481D.
