Re: Bike rack STC
Arash, I asked a local FAA guy who also owns a 170 and he said if I removed the rear seat to recalculate the W&B and make a logbook entry. Simple as that.

Re: Soloed My 170 Saturday
When I went through pilot training in '43, all the training had been in tailwheel airplanes with control sticks. My first control WHEEL was in a B-25. On my first ride, the instructor taxied off the parking apron onto the long straight taxi strip leading to the take off end of the parallel runway. ...

Re: How long is your 170's airstrip?
Show me some pics of these strips y'all have! Mine looks like an international airport compared to Joe's. Here's mine sporting a new growth of wheat. I started on it as soon as they harvested the soybeans in late September. It'll be next summer before I can start using it. 1.JPG 4.JPG Running ...

How long is your 170's airstrip?
I have landed and taken off from 1000' strips in the past. I just finished building a grass strip that's 1950' at 110' MSL. What do y'all fly off of?

Re: Landing light bracket.
I wonder if those are off of a fixed position landing light, like in a nose mount?
I took those off and put the correct ones on.

Re: Landing light bracket.
This one has two separate bulb retainers. There's a piece of rubber that cushions the bulb against the retainer but each retainer just screws down flat.

Landing light bracket.
Did Cessna change the design of the landing light brackets on the B models? My parts book shows a two-piece bracket for each light, mounted with screws on springs. The light fits in between the bracket channel. I've seen this set up on the '56. My '54 has a one piece bracket on each light and no spr...

Re: I'm trying to find a panel light rheostat
Thank you. My electrician buddy explained it much like you did (I just nodded and smiled :D ). The ohms is the number than indicates the resistance of the potentiometer (pot) and it's ability to turn electricity into heat and dim the lights. A simple statement would be a 0-15 ohm would only dim the ...
