Thanks Bruce. I'll figure it out and post what was required to get the window out once I do. I'll obviously welcome any experience in the mean time.

Re: Side Window Replacement
Doug, Do you mean that i have to drill the rivets at the buttom and side of the door and split the door into the inner section and outer section? I have not pulled the panel on the inside of the door yet, but it looks like the door has to be completely disassembled to get the window frame out. Thank...

Re: Side Window Replacement
I didn't purchase windows, I purchased 2 pieces of .125 plexiglass from professional plastiscs to cut on a bansaw to make the windows. Windows are available here http://www.glapinc.com, and elsewhere. About $200 for the front two side windows from a supplier, less than $50 for the plexiglass to make...

Side Window Replacement
I have a '56 C172 with a fixed window on the passenger side door. I want to replace the side window and it appears that I have to drill the rivets and split the door to do the job. I looked in the maintenance manual which didn't give any specifics about fixed window replacement. I just joined the si...

Pitot Leak
It appears I have a slight leak in my pitot system (rolled tube over pitot test). I have a 56 C172. Do these have the flexible tube at the wing root? If not are there any other prime candidates?
Thanks.

Re: Indicated Air Speed Error
From what I can see in the online IPC I'm using, once I disconnect the pressure line from the airspeed indicator I can blow it clear with pressurized air. It appears all other instruments are downstream of the ASI. Is this correct?
Thanks.

Any chance someone could post a picture of the pitot bend profile?

Re: panel shock mounts
The brass mounts are significantly more expensive than the steel shock mounts available. Does anyone have any first hand experience with the steel stud shock mounts related to compass error.
Thanks.

Thanks.

Re: panel shock mounts
Has anyone used the steel stud shock mounts from Spruce or Grainger? Did you have any compass issues?
Thanks.

Re: Cowel Screws
Bruce,
Aircraft Spruce offers a gasket For a gage that's supposed to be a direct replacement. Do you know if it fits properly. It was mentioned in another thread here.
Thanks.

Re: Cowel Screws
I will be joining, but it will be in February. January is tax month in my county/school district of NY! I do sincerely appreciate the knowledge and help I get on this site. Though my plane is technically a 172 it has more in common with 170s than with most 172s. Also a bit different outlook about ta...

Re: Cowel Screws
Looks like I should have researched the fuel gage as well as I did the cowel screws. From what I see I don't have to remove the top access cover to access and gage parts, just unscrew the gage and remove it into the cabin. I also see that Aircraft Spruce has a replacement mechanical gage. Does anyon...

Cowel Screws
I have a '56 square tail C172 need some help on cowel screws. A couple have vibrated out and I'm trying to determine the correct replacements. From what I can see the correct replacement is S-1021Z-8-8 which I believe is a type B, size 8, .5' length screw. A few of the tinnerman nut plates have stri...
