Re: PPonk STC

How did you hoist your a/c? I've had my kit for awhile, but haven't installed it for various reasons. One was finding a safe, easy way to hoist the a/c. I was thinking of using an automotive engine hoist hooked to the a/c engine, lift and leave one tiedown secured while removing the opposite gear le...

Re: Rudder pedal tension springs

Blueldr:

Roger that.

But by the time I need it, I'll have forgotten where the dang thing is, buy a new one, install same, then find the "old" one, and we're back where we started. If'n I find a home for it now, at least I'll know it has been put to good use...

Re: Rudder pedal tension springs

I have one, new in the plastic, that I won't be using. Thought I broke a spring but didn't. I don't have the p/n with me, but it's the spring that is on the left side of the tunnel.

Re: Petit Jean 2008 April 25 & 26

SteveF I'm based at W05, Gettysburg, PA and negotiate the P40 airspace all too often. If I were coming in from LNS (Lancaster), I'd target the Saint Thomas VOR (THS), then turn Southward to Front Royal (FRR). This keeps you well out of P40, regardless of its status (normal or enlarged). If you like ...

Back in the day (let's say the 50's & 60's), flying and airports were high tech. When I was 1st introduced to flying, color televisions were not available, let alone VCRs, computers, video games, IPods, Pocket PCs, monorail roller coasters, etc, etc. Kids today have all of this at their fingerti...

Thanks, George. If those are the qualifying condtions: welded tubular steel and have a seat area that had a rounded frontal-thigh area and a back with an oval-shape to the upper back. then mine are genuine 170 seats. The suspicion arose [for me] when I realized that they seem too large side-to-side.

Seat Verification and AD 2007-05-10

I'm trying to determine if I have the 'original' 170 seats. I have the p/n as 0500101-43 from the parts book. Where would one find the p/n on the seat itself? I've had the seat out, but can't seem to locate a stamping or any other indication of the p/n.

One mechanic whom I trust implicitly maintained that stripping paint should never be performed by mechanical means (scraping, wire wheeling, etc.) and should only be performed chemically. He says that the only rubbing should be done with a cotton cloth, of which the old time diapers were once made (...

Just aired up the other day. My a/c has a sticker inside the glove box door that indicates 24 mains (6.00X6) and 32 tailwheel (Scott 3200).

The files can be had at most harware stores. Just be sure to get one that has very fine 'teeth' that go diagonally across the face of the file in reference to the edge of the file. If memory serves, a mill file's 'teeth' are at 90 degrees to the edge. These will work as well. The stained glass suppl...

Glass

I was successful in truly producing my own part. Good stuff Bruce. I knew you'd figure out this procedure. I once saw a lens made for an airpath compass. I heard that that the supply houses wanted about $25 - $30 USD for a new one. I think I made -er-ummm - saw it made for about $0.05 worth of glas...
