Re: Benham Exhaust parts
063-3 Install Behnam pipes with dwgs and hardware list. (note-this is not by STC).pdf Looking for two (2) of the "u-shaped" brackets that attach the pipes to the lower cross bracket? They look similar to a muffler clamp. Dean, the attached 337 documents an installation like the one you me...

Re: 55' 170B nose bowl and exhaust
I just reported this in the thread about John Benham's pipes. But I'll repeat it here since the STC is mentioned here as well. Pat Bartone's STC is No. SA8645SW. It's available on the FAA's website at: http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgstc.nsf/0/9F117A1509340AB186257917004A284E?Op...

Re: Benham Exhaust parts
Pat Bartone's STC is No. SA8645SW. I'm not sure how to attach it here, but it's available on the FAA's website at: http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgstc.nsf/0/9F117A1509340AB186257917004A284E?OpenDocument&Highlight=sa8645sw The description line says "Installation of exten...

Re: Your go to bar?
Dave, I'm really sorry to hear that about your back. I'm a tall guy and I had a herniated disk about 20 years ago, so I know how bad it is. You have my sympathy. I had to learn how to do things differently after that. But you get through it. Get well.

Re: Your go to bar?
Thanks Ed. Good info. I am considering the ATS Pro 3X so I'm glad to hear that you like it. I've seen The Yard on the Internet. It does seem like a good resource. Thanks again.

Re: Your go to bar?
Thanks Ed and Ghostflyer. Ed, Any suggestions on make and/or model? I haven't bucked rivets in ages, so I haven't used any current models. I don't have a project in mind (yet) but I'm thinking about getting a 3x to play with and get my skills back up. What prompted this was I saw that ATS has a bunc...

Re: Safety Wiring Cleveland Brakes
Out of curiosity, when I was at the airport this weekend, I looked at a hand full of new Cleveland 103-11600 brake bolts they had in stock. They appear to be standard AN4-17A bolts with a dot of what appears to be blue thread lock on one side of the threads (in about the middle of the threads longit...

Re: Cockpit Light Pollution (52 B model/piano key panel)
We now use a blue which is both better for night adaption and more NVG compatible. You do use NVGs don't you? Oh sure! Doesn't everyone? My cousin has a pair of toy NVGs that he bought from a big box store for fun. I was shocked at how well they worked. I went down into a windowless part of ...

Re: Cockpit Light Pollution (52 B model/piano key panel)
This is a little off topic but related. What's the latest thinking about whether red should still be used for instrument/cockpit lighting? I've heard that it does not preserve night vision as much as originally thought. I've never liked the fact that it washes out anything written in red.

Re: Cabin Heat and C02
Right. Also, it helps to know the baseline levels/quirks of your plane so you can tell when the levels are different indicating a leak. I think I'll move mine from the hand strap. It's not doing much when I have ventilator air blowing by it. Perhaps I'll put it on the panel with Velcro as Arash sugg...

Re: Cabin Heat and C02
No problem. I've gotten so much good info from this forum that I'm glad to contribute if I have some potentially useful info. I'm curious to see how long/well my little CO detector holds up. I guess I shouldn't be critical of its size. A former colleague of mine had a client that made data loggers u...

I have the "Model 300 Pocket CO" detector sold through Aircraft Spruce in my 170B. So I thought I would give you a product review. Here's a link to it: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pspages/co300.php?clickkey=6595 (Links to pdf copies of the manual and spec sheet for the unit are u...

Re: No tailwheel needed.
Excellent. Thanks Dave. Ed, I think you said you had 6000 hours on your tailwheel when the bolt failed. Bruce about how many hours did you have on your tailwheel when the bolt broke? If anyone else had the tailwheel bolt fail, about how many hours did you have on it when it failed? I have a little o...

Re: No tailwheel needed.
Anyone know whether the Alaskan Bushwheel bracket assembly with the kingpin bolt at issue here (p/n ABI 3216-00; Spruce p/n 06-00724) is a direct replacement for the Scott bracket assembly with the kingpin bolt (p/n 3216-00; Spruce p/n 06-01291)? I know that the entire Alaskan Bushwheel tailwheel as...
