Re: Tailwheel Assy ATTACH bolts/nuts

Anyone know whether the Scott 1 3/4" to 1 1/2" adapter (Spruce p/n 3241-1S) is the same as Spacer, item 4 (p/n 0442011-3) in Fig 94, pp. 154-155 of the B model IPC? It appears to be so, but I don't want to shell out $50 or so to Spruce without knowing for sure. I'm changing my main leaf sp...

Re: Paperwork--AFM requiremants

Congratulations Avee8or! When you make it down to central MA, stop in Sterling (3B3) and say hello. I'm the only 170 on the field. Although it's not readily apparent, we have a grass runway parallel to the main runway (left of 34, right of 16). Just say 34 or 16 "on the grass" and you'll b...

Re: Buss fuses

Also, while I have not tried it, I've been told that you can use the metal caps from a burnt out AGS (or 4AG) fuse to convert an AGC fuse for use in an AGS fuse holder. Just break the glass and clean it out of the metal ends of the old AGS fuse. Then slip those ends over the ends of an AGC fuse. Use...

Re: Buss fuses

Search "AGS fuses" or "4AG fuses" on ebay (they are the same thing). Then look for the rating you need. There usually are sellers trying to unload old stock. I found all that I need for years to come on ebay about 5 months ago, in the various sizes I need. If I remember correctly...

Re: Replacement Cylinders

Thanks for the replies. Given the positive responses to Superiors and the fact that my AI likes them and has one in stock, I'll go with a Superior. We should be able to change the cracked one to the new Superior today.

Thanks again,
Gene

Replacement Cylinders

My AI spotted what might be a small crack in my #5 cylinder at the base of the 3rd fin behind the top spark plug hole. Did a soap test and it blew bubbles, so now I'm in the market for a new cylinder. The folks at my field like the Superior cylinders. But I'm not sure of all the options. I did a che...

Re: 170 Travel Kit

If you have a '52 B model or one of the other model years with those two d*mn cowl screws behind the spinner backplate, and you want to allow for removing the top and/or bottom cowl halfs, you'll need to have a 90 degree Phillips screwdriver small enough to fit behind the backplate (or an appropriat...

Re: Master or Starter Contactor/Solenoid Sealant

The Sky-Tec master solenoid that I ordered from Spruce just came and its label is oriented the same as the supposedly upside down Lamar ones. The diagram enclosed with it shows it oriented with the cap/rolled lip (and terminals) at the top. So I looked up Cessna service kit SK210-173A for the contac...

Re: Master or Starter Contactor/Solenoid Sealant

I also don't mount them upside-down like some questionable articles have recently proposed. (If the label is upside down... then why does all the literature show them with the cap on the top ? Not to mention that if they're mounted with the cap on the bottom... they'd be more susceptible to retaini...

Geeze, I read that thread at the time and that part didn't sink in. And it was only a month ago. Thanks, Gary.

Master or Starter Contactor/Solenoid Sealant

I just read an article in the current Cessna Pilots Association magazine saying that the seal at the rolled-edge of a can-type master or starter solenoid/contactor is not perfect and that "water can and does get into" them. It recommends use of a sealant over the rolled edge to prevent moi...

The Cleveland Technician's Service Guide has the same information you are looking for except in a simpler, shorter format. Here is a link to it (I hope I've done this right): http://www.parker.com/literature/Aircraft%20Wheel%20&%20Brake%20Division/AWB%20Static%20Files%20for%20Literature/AWB%20Pr...

Ask and you shall receive. :D :D :D Thanks for posting it in the MX library, Bruce. I now have a copy that I've been trying to get for weeks. You are much more responsive here than the Cessna Service Center.
