Re: Fuel Selector Valve

If you look at this 2015 thread, Gahorn ( George ) has a very informative post near the end of the page that shows another Spruce valve and also gives you the AC # that "may" give you some traction with authorization for using and modifying the part on the A models. You may find the AC hel...

Re: Weighing Aircraft

I am sure there are plenty of places. However, the shop at Harvey field (S43) has been getting quite the education in weighing 170's if you look at my intro thread to #1000 on here. I had a bunch of work done, and the plane had not been weighed from scratch for a long number of years so I had them d...

Re: Introduction to #1000

What a great post! Thank you for that! In reading the logs I knew the plane had seen the first half of its life in the midwest, and the southwest too I believe. The history of the first owner is awesome to know! I will go back through the logs and re-read the era you are talking about. I had read be...

Re: Introduction to #1000

MetalMaster, A Great write-up, thank you! I won't be flying out anytime soon as I am still learning the plane/rebuilding my flying skills, and will be at that stage for quite some time yet. I also have been watching the reports on the FATPNW page on Facebook about the problems out there with locals ...

Re: Introduction to #1000

Kyle, I got very lucky and found a new 80/42 for a wholesale price. Still very expensive, but worth it for me. I am keeping the 76/53 and wheel pants for that time when my stewardship of this fine aircraft comes to an end so the next owner can decide for himself/herself which way they want to fly th...

Re: Introduction to #1000

Blueldr: I stand properly and humbly chastised. You are right sir! I don't know what I was thinking, but most likely was unduly influenced by my "better half".. I will say however, that she has come around and is 100% supportive of my current endeavors, for which I am truly thankful...

Re: Introduction to #1000

John, Thank you for that link and the info. Very much appreciated. I am having some of the same problems with the current numbers in that with full fuel and two in front I am out of CG by a slight forward margin. I will go back through the log books again, but did not believe this plane had the lady...

Re: Introduction to #1000

I have two questions that have come up regarding Weight and Balance. I don't want to resurrect a long ago thread so thought I would add it to my plane thread here. I did read the two or three threads I found by searching which helped, but did not specifically answer these two questions. Having just ...

Re: Headset Jacks

Mine were installed in the upholstery next to each passenger in the rear seat. Someone did a very nice job putting these in here. This pic is not great, but gives you the idea.

Re: Prop Survey

wabuchanan works too much, but I know where he keeps his airplane. I will plan to do a fly-off comparison of his two props while he's slaving away on another 80 straight work shift. HaHaHa! We found an opening in the rain clouds this afternoon........125mph @ 2550 in dense cold air (DM7653) w...

Re: Prop Survey

I like Jugheads proposition of a fly-in comparison meeting. Great excuse to get together with a bunch of 170's!

My new 80-42 just left MA this morning it looks like, so should have it by next week

Re: Fuel Dipstick

I bought two of those C-172 sticks that George talks about. Cut one off at the zero mark like he said. I fueled the plane and using the stick that was cut off to zero I got two extra gallons usable. BUT.....I may have fueled up into the neck of the tank almost to the cap, which would artificially ad...

Re: Is Your Heater Ready?

I have pulled the knob twice now. Even though I watched them visually check the mufflers at the annual it was not pressure checked. I was checking the CO detecter frequently and paying close attention to signs and symptoms. Funny thing is, way back when I was renting I never gave it much thought. No...

Re: ADS-B Out Mandate: Options

I just recently bought 76C. (I have not formally introduced myself and the plane yet, but plan to soon! ) I have been busy getting settled and finishing my tailwheel endorsement. First, welcome to the 170 world. I predict a very rewarding experience with this great airplane, and the equally great p...
