Re: Fuel Flow transducer installation
Looking closer at photo, I see you mounted using a screw through the holes in the transducer (provided for mounting via a firewall bracket). EI instructions are to support the fuel line with a clamp within 6" of the transducer if it is mounted inline with the fuel line as in your case. I think ...

Re: Fuel Flow transducer installation
Thanks for photo. I am installing one on my 53B and planned on mounting as you did. Good to have confirmation it works! Making the hoses tomorrow. One note--EI says to firesleeve the transducer if it is within 6" of exhaust. With the Bartone pipes, there is no way to mount the transducer with m...

Re: Oil Pressure Gauge Replacement
Shortly after buying my 170 I had the copper line fail, fortunately close to departure airport. I have been flying for 5 years on the new line. Going back to research some issues, I found the line that failed had been fabricated/installed only 18 months before it failed on me...I will be replacing t...

I will be removing vacuum system shortly--I have an O300 with the Universal Tow All alternator/vac pump STC. Should my A&P fabricate a plate or would one such as the Superior SL60430 Cover (aircraft spruce) be suitable? Yes--they sell the gasket too!

Re: What are y'all using for push to talk?
My Telex velcro ptt’s have deteriorated….plastic coil coating is separating from wires making a mess. Time for better solution. Has anyone tried to epoxy a metal bracket to their yoke in lieu of drilling holes for the bracket?

Fuel management and fuel gauge
I assume the “no takeoff” range mark is due to unporting of the fuel feed in 3 point attitude? Is this so? Is it safe to take off when 1 tank is out of the red range if the other rs in the red range? If so, should both tanks be selected, or the fuller tank? I had a recent flight where I had enough f...

Re: Engine Oil
An update--aviation oil outlet is still the best deal, even less than directly from Phillips. While I haven't had to add oil to my 170, except for changes, my "new" 195 does self lubricate, and a "normal" tank load is 3.5 gallons. Thanks, fellow owners, for the information!

Re: Approved AOA's for a 54 C170
I have the Safe Flight, as noted below. Quite happy with it. Happy to share info if you PM me. I started to install Garmin, but my shop could not fit it on the aircraft structurally and Garmin refunded the $$.

Re: LED Wing Light Question
I did 1 of each on 11A. On my Navajo I put led landing lights on the wingtip (also use for recognition/anticollision) and left the incandescent lights (landing and taxi) on the nose gear. When bulbs burn out Ill go led. I agree the led lights dont seem to punch through mist, haze as well as the old ...

Re: IFR Capable 170's
I agree with the thrust of the comments in this thread--a 170 is fine for "light" IFR is properly equipped, and it is far better to legally punch through a layer to VFR than to scud run. My 170 has a vacuum pump so not worried about ventures. HOWEVER--my long standing radio shop refused to...

I just went through a search for these parts and have a couple in stock after a frustrating time---there are actually more than 2 versions it seems. Send me a private message with your phone number & I will call you.

Re: Altimeter
Following up with my experience with Keystone--Mixed, but satisfactory on the altimeter. They sent a rebuilt on in exchange for mine--they had a unit with the Kollsman knob at 6 o'clock. As we were installing, we noted that the knob did not adjust anything--so back to the shop and a couple of weeks ...
