Re: Mouse in Tailwheel
CIMG0030.jpg Sorry about the misunderstanding of a $499.00 purchase price for the mouse "trap". I went on the previous mention of Cascade Aircraft Conversions for $600.00. Maybe that was also tongue-in-cheek. Anyway, here's photos of ours with evidence that the mouse that had gotten in th...

Re: Mouse in Tailwheel
To pay anything over the cost of a piece of aluminum sheet metal to fit around the tailwheel (or mains) is crazy. Can't believe companies are charging $500 and more. We just cut a piece high and long enough to go around the tailwheel, crimped both end so they would connect and then placed a typical ...

Re: Strut Step?
Makes me want to take off the leather on the lower portion just to see what's underneath; but I think I'll leave well enough alone and just add some anti-skid for the foot part. We're covering all of the other exposed areas to ensure no scraping along the gear leg, though. It's nice to know I finall...

Re: BRAKE DISKS
Just wondering if anyone has an update on the A.E.R.O. "black steel" brake discs referenced in this thread from 2007?? We currently have Cleveland brakes and need to replace rotors and brake pads. Any suggestions or advice on either?? Thanks much.

Re: Strut Step?
Too funny. I read the thread on the new strut step, but never saw a picture. So my strut step is a true original. We actually thought, though, that
you could probably break a leg falling off the step if the leather was a bit wet. Guess we'll add some anti-skid material. Thanks for the link.

Strut Step?
In my collection of "stuff", I have been looking at this item for years. Is it a portable strut step? If so, has anyone had any luck with it or have any suggestions on its use? Originally there was leather on the top as well as bottom, but it ripped off. So we covered the bare end with pla...

Mouse in tailwheel photo
I have ordered Fresh Cab based on your recommendation and am anxious to see the results. Thanks for this very good idea. Hope it works. I also plan on using in my basement of a house that is currently vacant and waiting to sell. Ummmmm, can smell the air in my fantasy sniffer as I type.

Mouse in Tailwheel
Thanks, everyone, for great tips to remedy my mouse problem. When the mouse got into the airplane in Durango in 99, I had camping provisions in the back (food, etc), which likely attracted them. But haven't had any food in the airplane since. So I think the small openings on the tailwheel are natura...

Mouse in Tailwheel
Again, a mouse has crawled up my tailwheel (hangared in a brand new hangar, too!) and nested in my headliner. Has anyone come up with a failproof method of keeping them crawling through the tailwheel assembly holes, etc.... other than the obvious of stuffing each opening with foam or material after ...

Fuel and Food NC/SC border
Hi, everyone... Thanks for the replies to my fuel/food query. I initially checked out AirNav, but still wondered if there were some hidden/"secret" neat places to land for cheap fuel and good food on the way to FL. But after a little more checking with that website, we came up with some go...

Fuel Stop - Good Food NC/SC border
Hi, everyone...
Wonder if anyone has a suggestion for a fuel stop (reasonably priced??) south of Knoxville around the NC/SC border or in that vicinity. On the way to Juno Beach, FL from MI and need a place for fuel, good food, and to shed a few cold wx clothes.
Thanks
Michelle

Luggage/back seat tie down tip
I have always felt uncomfortable having anything loose behind the front seat of the a/p. To remedy that problem, for my trip to Idaho, I removed the back seat, then used the seat bolts and pushed them through one of two chain links (and a large washer), and resecured the bolts in the seat bolt holes...

Montana/Idaho trip update
Hi, everyone: A semi-brief update on my "quick" trip to Idaho from Michigan. Though I expected to take two weeks, I did it in 7 days. Two C170's left MI VFR on a Sunday morning. Made Ames, Iowa the first night (1/3 of the way). Stopped in at a small (honor-system) Nebraskan airport for fue...
