Re: What is this lever on my engine?
Does the "B" model have the option to use a vacuum pump as an accessory?

Re: What is this lever on my engine?
I did not say the 0-300 was never on the TCDS, it is. The 0-300-B is not. Hi Bruce. I meant to say O-300-B. I should have clarified. I have a C-145-H2 in my plane. I have the opportunity to purchase a good O-300-B locally and my plan was to overhaul the O-300 and swap it into my plane. That way I c...

Re: What is this lever on my engine?
So if the O-300 was never on the TCDS, where did it come from? Is it safe to say they are not original to the 170? Sounds like Cessna did not manufacture any 170's with the O-300B. They must have been transplanted from another aircraft.

Re: C-145-H2 O-300B Swap
Thanks Karl. I was looking through the members section for that information but didn't see it. Can someone point me to the details?

C-145-2H O-300B Swap
Hi guys,
Is there an STC required to change motors from a C-145-H2 to an O-300B? What type of approval or paperwork would be required?

Re: Things to look for after sitting a while
Bruce, Thanks for that excellent information. I was out at the airport again today and got a chance to look for that lever. Sure enough it was hiding behind the air scoop. So it would appear I have a C-145-2H engine. I also looked closer at the engine data plate. It appears to my untrained eye that ...

Re: Things to look for after sitting a while
That is good info. I will look more closely at it tomorrow. The plane belonged to my grandfather since 1980. Unfortunately, he had a house fire in January and lost everything including the aircraft/engine logs. The airworthiness, registration and W&B were lucky in the plane. So we are starting o...

Re: Things to look for after sitting a while
Nice looking bird. Is she painted or bare metal? It has what I would call a home grown hanger paint job. Not the best but definitely not the worst. Some of the silver paint is peeling. Something I hope to address down the road. I don't recall seeing that lever on the left side. Here is a slightly b...

Re: Things to look for after sitting a while
Ok. I finished up going through some things on the 170. here's a few picts of 8180A. I changed the oil, oils screens look good, compressions were good. Lowest cylinder was 77/80. The rest were 78-79. Static RPM is about 2250. I drained all the old gas and put in 20 gallons of 100LL. A new concord ba...

Re: Carb Fuel Line Question
There were no leakes that I could detect. I was using a rag soaked in old gas to wipe down everything. The gas really cuts through all the oil and grime.

Re: Things to look for after sitting a while
I'll have to ask the original owner what he was using. I brought some Ashless oil with me to do the oil change but I saw he had a bunch of mineral oil sitting there. It made me second guess what I had brought. Thanks!

Re: Carb Fuel Line Question
Ok thanks. Sorry for the questions but I am having to re-think things after spending so much time in the Experimental world. Can a hose like this be replaced with say Aeroquip 303 or does one have to use a certified part from Cessna or something like that?

Carb Fuel Line Question
I finally got a change to pull the cowl off the 170. Should the fuel line to the carb have a fire sleeve on it? I am used to having fire sleeves or Aeroquip 466 on my O320 in my RV.
