Re: ADSB and Transponders checks
Thanks Karl. I couldn’t find anywhere that stated they weren’t.

Thanks George. That’s similar to what I was thinking could help. It wasn’t the kind with adhesive was it?

Exhaust Leak
I always get a small bit of exhaust leakage around the joint where the muffler attaches to the exhaust stack. The leak comes around the clamps and deposits white/brown/black soot in the area. From my reading it sounds like there is a small amount to be expected and it’s normal. Is there anything I c...

Re: Engine monitor or not?
I installed a CGR-30P in my 170B when I overhauled the Engine last year. It’s great. It really depend on what you like personally. Is it needed? No. If you are a person that likes to know what is going on up there then it is great. I really like the fuel flow data. Fuel calculations and remaining fu...

Re: Interior trim paint stripping - guidance appreciated
You need to determine what kind of paint is there in the first place. If it is the original lacquer based paint you won’t be able to use stripper. I had to remove the original paint in my airplane with thinner. Soak it in and lots of elbow grease. There are no shortcuts unfortunately. Just go slow a...

Re: ADS-B
The Garmin 660 is nice if you want something smaller than a tablet. I really like mine. I made a custom mount for mine but I realize not everyone wants to redo their panel. The other option is the L3 Lynx. It has a display and might fit where your old transponder was.

Re: AD Compliance Sheet
Gene. I sent you a PM. George, Thanks for the thoughtful reply. It’s very helpful as I am trying to keep my records up to date. I noticed that many of the AD’s listed were not applicable but still listed as N/A and signed off. Would you consider that good practice or just leave them out of the log c...

AD Compliance Sheet
I'm spending some time organizing my records and trying to come up with a workable AD compliance sheet. Here is what I have so far. Am I missing anything that would apply to the 170B or anything else you might add?

Re: ADS-B
I just installed a GDL 82 in a 180. Pretty simple install. Just verify it works with your existing transponder first.

2256D In The 170 News
I enjoyed reading about 2256D in the recent edition of the 170 News. Nice write up Ryan. A 15 1/2 hour round trip in a 170 is no small task. Also, its a really great thing being able to keep it in the family for 3 generations.

Re: Dynamic Propeller Balancing
Good info Karl. I've been researching this subject. I am trying to find out "Who" is authorized to perform a dynamic balance. Does it have to be an A&P? I noticed the AC says: (h) The dynamic balancing procedure and the propeller’s return to service must be accomplished by an appropria...

Re: Panel Upgrade??
The GTR is a nice unit. I was originally going to go with one but I couldn't pass up a great deal on the two SL40's I got. The original panel when I got the plane did not have much of a "harness". I must have cut a mile of old wiring out. What a mess it was. One thing I tried to do when I ...

Re: Panel Upgrade??
I originally wanted the G5 directly center but there was a clearance problem. I don’t remember if it had to do with the G5 or my electric T&B. But regardless it has never bothered me. My radio stack is two SL40’s and a 8000BTi audio panel. I love the Bluetooth audio on the 8000. I made a custom ...
