Re: 0-300-B engine
I’m learning a lot in these conversations even though I haven’t purchased a 170 yet, but I’m certainly planning on it and maybe the 170 that started this?? So I’ve gotten 4 quotes ranging from 34 to 43 thousand and some have suggested switching to 0300-D. Wouldn’t that require STC and approval?

Re: 0-300-B engine
Thank you Bruce. I understand I’m actually emailing overhaul shops to get ideas and estimates. Again trying to get as much information as I can to help in making a purchase decision.
Again thank you

Re: 0-300-B engine
I’m bugging you guys again, and may be putting the cart way before the horse. Since I still haven’t been able to get to aircraft and check it out (I have gone to check out an airplane before and got within 100 feet of it and knew I didn’t want it). With all that said here is my question. The engine ...

Re: 0-300-B engine
I haven’t been to the aircraft yet, trying to go this coming week. The picture that was sent is the engine logbook. On the engine description page. Continental 0-300-B serial number 11027-B-r-B (serial number is blurry so not sure if numbers/letters are correct.145HP 2700RPM. I was told matches engi...

Re: 0-300-B engine
Again thank you both. I’ve owned other planes and been in other groups but the 170 organization (you guys) are definitely the best.
Again thanks

Re: 0-300-B engine
It’s the original engine and what he has sent me is a pic of engine logbook showing this 0-300B engine and matching serial number installed when it left factory. So it should be good?? Right??

Re: 0-300-B engine
The plane I’m considering is 56 model with the 0-300-B engine. He says it’s the original engine. So my understanding per this post is I will still need the STC. Is that all or will there need to be 337 or mechanic sign off?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: 0-300-B engine
Thanks to both of you for the reply. So if I purchase this 170 I will purchase the STC before hand. Again thanks for the information.

0-300-B engine
I’m looking at a 56 C170B with the Continental 0-300-B engine. What all do I need to see in paperwork/logbooks for it to be legal?

Re: 53 Cowl doors
My pilot side door is doing same thing. It’s about to break the small piece of metal on aft latch as as the one in the pic that Jim repaired. I’m not handy as he (Jim) is working metal nor do I have the tools. Is there any repair advice?
Thanks
