C-145 Fuel Additives

Is anyone using fuel additives in the C-145, i.e., MMO, TCP, Synthetic 2 cycle oil? I have been using 100% synthetic 2 cycle oil (4 oz to 10 gals) in my Champ C-85 for the past 18 months or so. The 2 cycle oil is supposed to improve valve lubrication. I have been unable to find auto gas without alco...

C145 Cessna 170B

Thanks for all the comments. Based on the 1956 Owner's manual I pulled off this site (thanks to whoever made it available), looks like 110 MPH is an average cruise speed.

C-145 Cessna 170B

I am in the process of purchasing an nice 170B. The aircraft is equipped with the C145. I would appreciate owner comments regarding the C145, i.e., adequate power plant vs. underpowered.

Thx

Three Blade Prop

I was in Salinas last Friday dropping my Champ off for some work at Gold Coast Aviation - Larry Lujan. While having coffee with Larry he mentioned that he has obtained an STC for a three bladed prop for the Cessna 170.

172 Conversion

Just a short endorsment for Harry Dellicker and DELAIR. I manage the Sheriff's Office aviation program which includes a highly modified Cessna 206. Harry did most of the modification work - great guy to work with - honest, straight shooter and really knows his stuff. We have done business with him f...

Pilot/Pax Wht Limitations

My good friend is considering the Cessna 170B. He formerly owned a Cessna 206. He is a big man - 320lbs - and is concerned about Cessna 170 pilot/pax wht limitations. He is primarily concerned about CG. I suspect there is a wht limit on the seat itself - however, he exceeded those in the C-206. Typi...

Engine Trouble over NJ

I am currently flying a Champ 7BCM with an auto gas STC. I have found at higher engine temps the engine would act like it was experiencing carb ice. Use of carb heat cleared up the problem. However, I suspected the fuel was vaporizing just prior to the carb (as the fuel line passes by the left side ...

Franklin Engine

I am in the process of searching for a 170B to purchase. The research I have conducted established that there are a number of different engine variants in use in the 170 fleet. I am interested in opinions regarding the Franklin 220 HP engine. I have heard from Stinson drivers that the Franklin might...
