Polished Props
I just returned from an FAA symposium and the official word is no polished props unless that prop was approved from the factory...some Hartzells were factory polished and the S/N ends with a "P". A lot of Hamilton Standard propellers have a factory approved polish procedure as well. McCaul...

I don't have it handy but the Part Numbers are in the C170 Parts Manual which is available. You CAN go to my webpage at
http://geocities.com/ryanaeroservice/home.html and it has my contact info...give me a call and I'll look up the numbers for the bushings and spacers.

I've had the best results with LP Aeroplastics and like their fit. I like the center strip (called a 2-piece even though it'd a single piece with a center reinforcement) because it keeps the classic look AND provides better birdstrike protection. Cessna quoted $129.00 apiece. The oil access panels on a later 172 - 210 are ove...

Brake Hoses
They should be hoses up by the rudder pedals. Take another look under the flimsy pedal well cover on the left side and you should see the hoses connected to the master cylinders. Solid lines up there would NOT be a good idea...too much movement will lead to cracks/failures. Next annual you might pee...

Brakes
Dr. Dave, A lot of things can cause brakes to go south...some are pretty subtle. You mentioned Cleveland discs and that brings a few things to mind. On disc brakes we often go annual after annual and replace pads as required. But, the system is filled with MIL-H-5606A hydraulic fluid which is vented...
